So the Christmas season is fast approaching and Santa Ben wants to know,

what new features would you like to see implemented to https://ads.pof.com in 2011?

I promise that every request made in this thread will get looked at and considered. Some we'll be able to accommodate,
some we'll not but the next version of our platform will make your lives easier, guaranteed. And what better way than to
ask the people who use it? So, let's hear it ladies and gents, ask and you may receive!

    Run of the network ads?

    Interstitial ads?

so far POF has one of the best targeting system, but, well, the only draw back is that the traffic is small compared to other places. The only wish I have for this Christmas is that I can use the same system on more traffic source, or more traffic on the same platform, so it will be great if you guys can bring more traffic to us.

oh, and I wish you guys don't become like FB interns who keep disapproving ads for stupid reasons all the time.

It would be advisable if you can start PPC based bidding .

I also like advertisement platforms that have Ad scheduling feature so as run ads on the days and hours we want.

Or at least work out a beta version of a PPC platform, and allow me to test it out for you .

In all seriousness, if you guys had PPC bidding, everybody and their mother would use PoF. Your demographics targeting system + PPC capabilities = BIG MONEY for pubs.

And increase the cost of advertising astronomically?

If they had a CPC system, I could personally make a ton of money, and I know a lot of my publishers would love it too. I think most people (especially the people who are new to CPM marketing, but try PoF anyway) will actually end up spending much less, or at least making much more. But at least an option would be nice.

I believe the CPM positions works best for POF because they never lose, but a cpc system would be fantastic.

additionally, add a ranking system. I want to know if my CPM bid is #1 or #100 and what sort of traffic will I be looking at.

I'd love to be able to target other countries that aren't necessarily English-speaking. There aren't many people on POF from, say, France or Spain, but there are some.

That'd be pretty sick, especially if you guys broaden the scope of countries involved in PoF.

PS -- Started charging people for some features? Interesting.. lol

The geographic targeting for countries other than the US is killing me. I apparently can't target just England, it has to be the whole UK.

I've also tried to get more specific, cities such as Liverpool. But I get a message that states "Zip code is not valid." It's clear that this was originally coded for the US, but better geographic targeting outside of the US would be a huge win.

EDIT: Ok, I figured out the state/province thing. It's not intuitive, but it works.

LOL! Unfortunately, I'm not the owner of POF but I do take care of all the advertising so you're talking the the best possible person?

Credit card is the best way. Paypal is available with a minimum $400 deposit and wire is available with a $5k deposit. Only bad thing is funds don't appear immediately in your account. You have to wait until accounting checks that we received it, then for me to add funds to your account.

@CPApromoter, there's only so much we can ask before people get mad. The questions we ask also have to be relevant for matching people up to go on dates. Unfortunately, living situation wouldn't be applicable.. plus everyone would just lie about living at home LOL We have income targeting and I'm pretty sure people inflate that

              Main Wishes after using POF

Whenever we make changes to our bids, target markets, distribution, frequency & daily budget of a particular AD, the status changed to PENDING APPROVAL. This shouldn't be.

When the status changed to PENDING APPROVAL, it took several hours to get it re-approved. This means lost of opportunity especially when the offers are seasonal or time critical, about to lapse or have many competitors.

In my opinion, only changes to 4 items should switch the status from ACTIVE to PENDING APPROVAL :
              1. Campaign Name
              2. Affiliate URL
              3. Creative File & Name
              4. Description

              Please consider.

Thank you... Ben and happy holidays.

We do what we do for reasons that may not be inherently obvious. So the best way is to measure twice and cut once. A few hours wait is actually not that bad considering some of the other social networks out there.

Ben thanks for the changes made !! Wishes came true. You guys are cool and humble.

I understand about the 4 items as they are related to safety, integrity and image of POF and users. So no pressure.

    Hi Ben,

In the POF Analytics, we have :
    - Cost per day
    - Impressions per day
    - Click per day
    - CTR per day
    - eCPC per day
    - CPM per day

Can we also have the charts with CTR plotted on hourly/day? Or at least CTR plotted on 2 halves of the day.

We need to see when are the most clicks done everyday. This is to study the behaviour better.

I bet the number of clicks according to the hour of the day are very different between different demographics based on income brackets and ethnic groups.

    Hi Ben,

Happy New Year! Am a little late to this one!

Firstly I'd like the ability to pause individual ads within a particular ad group. At the moment if you have multiple ads within the same group and wish to stop them then you just have to delete it and resubmit if you want to run it again.

I'd like an indication of the target size when you select from the different targeting options like they have with Facebook. At the moment we have absolutely no idea of the number of users that will be seeing our ads.

It would be great to see how changing bids (increasing or decreasing) will increase or decrease the number of potential impressions. Alternatively a more frequently updated indication of recommended bid would be straightforward.

I think that you REALLY need to crack down the number of copyrighted images that you seem to allow people to use in their ads. Am not sure whether your potentially liable for this practice but it's essentially rewarding bad behaviour and I don't think that it's particularly ethical. It puts "proper" marketers at a real disadvantage. It's very easy to search for where these images are coming from using sites like tineye and on a number of occasions I have been very tempted to write to and send a screen shot to people who's photos have been stollen for use in these ads. Anybody caught using copyrighted images should face a lifetime ban from your platform.

I think that you need to ensure that your reviewers are better trained when your policies change. There was a spell last year for banner ads where it was virtually impossible to get anything through.

Finally, I think that you need to be a lot more transparent about your up and coming changes in terms of allowable offers. There is often zero notice. The change in policy on eHarmony for instance caused me problems as I spent a day doing banners and texts and getting them approved by by network only to be informed when I uploaded them that POF had decided the day before that eHarmony was no longer allowed. Decided to vote with my feet on this one and stopped using your network. Have just however returned and have started using you again.

Am of course focussing on the negatives as this exercise is all about highlighting what we would like improved. For the most part however you are generally fantastic to work with and it's one of the best self serve networks that I work with.

Appreciate the opportunity to feedback to you on this.

    Cheers,

      Agreed with all the above.

There is 1 thing though - about copyrighted images. I'm of them who use legally acquired images only and do my own text copy. Always original.

But I surely don't want POF to start a witch hunt and trouble me with all sorts of things. Also this will lead to a longer approval process and delay my campaigns.

So, if the images of stars like Michael Jackson is being used, yes then by all means check the legal use.

But if photos of an unknown person is being used, please don't waste time asking about legal use and my source because it will waste my time and delay my campaign. Furthermore, I dislike my integrity being questioned.

When those measures start to happen, I normally skip the channel indefinitely and NEVER LOOK BACK. Simply a waste of precious time, when time is the most precious resource I have in the world. Once lost, can never regain.

And if a thief grabbed my creatives to promote their offers, its not worth to dwell or have a heartache about. Thieves are thieves and whatever gains they acquired, they will usually lose it in no time.

It is certainly not something that I, as a user, can control. So it is more productive to move on and make new ones. Peace of mind.
