mobile advertising for CPA

I'm watching a video where this (guru, whatever) is placing ads for zip submits and ringtones on Admob. He also says teeth whitening does well.

Seems very simple, but does it work? Anyone try it?

your better off building a list through mobile at this point. unless you do a ton of split testing and get just the right offer its pretty tough. i ran a few campaigns on admot and although my cpa offers didn't really convert my list grew pretty fast in the weight loss niche like 20 subscribers for 10 bucks. not too bad

Buddy, I hope you're not talking about Mobile Monopoly. If so, just read the reviews about this course in the reviews forum. This course is not good, very misleading. Mobile marketing can work and is certainly an important part of the future (present?) of our industry. However, it's not like guys over MM explain.

      I read about MM.

Nope, I think his name is Mansour. Most of his videos are about ppv and 2nd tier networks and media buying though. He said collecting anything beyond an email on a phone isn't a good idea.

He is very big on pay per call - like having an attorney, whatever call you back. For example, an ad like "Is a divorce in your future? Click here for an attorney and free consult..."

I agree, it all depends on the offer your running. I have tried to run ringtone offers on mobile before without any luck. But one hot niche on mobile is dating offers.

It's not as easy as the MM kid makes it sound. However after spending quite a few dollars running ads on multiple networks I'm see good (read "positive" ROI). However it's not for the faint of heart. And admob is not the only player. There are around 14 self serve platforms and another 26 or so non-self serve ad networks around the globe. Each one has it's niche but it takes a lot of testing (read "spending money") to figure out which network Is best for which product.
