I ran an email submit from ewa on Nintendo DS with nintendo related keywords and urls, spent $50 today in about 20 minutes with about 2500 click (pop unders) and had 0 conversations, how can that be, what am I missing with cpv?
#2500 #clicks #conversations #lead impact

Buying traffic is extremely low quality and very unlikely to convert.

SEO and referral from relevant sites or advertising are your best options. The first two mentioned are truly the best because they are usually free.

Last, you must make sure that the landing page (after they click) is going to help you convert. For example, Amazon converts quite well because Amazon does a great job of converting once a visitor is there and because most people are comfortable and trust Amazon.

I don't think they were clicks but rather impressions...

First off, bidding .02 per view to start is never a good idea. That's way too high, definitely wanna start low (minimum) and pick up your bids for good targets.

Second, which CPV network are you using? That plays a major part too, if you're running through a poor quality PPV platform, you're not gonna make any money.

3rd, are you using a landing page, or direct linking (can only direct link if there's no exit pop)? Direct linking tends to see lower CR's, but if you have a bad LP, you wont see any leads either.

Definitely a lot more factors as well. All could be reasons for this.

$50 is not nearly enough to test a PPV campaign, but its at least enough to see some conversions -- so there's gotta be some things wrong on your end (no offense of course -- just how it probably is).

I'm using lead impact and bid the absolute minimum (0.015)
I'm direct linking, I don't see the the why to build a landing page for a simple email submit and please correct me if you disagree
I too think I should have seen at least some conversations. It drives me crazy lol, I don't know how people make so much money with CPV and I must find out! I have gained so much experience and spend so much money and still haven't figured it out!
      Tnx for the reply

Having a landing page, even for email submits, engages the user. So if an user is willing to click through your landing page, they are more "likely" to enter their email because they are already curious and want to know more.

That being said, email submits offers work with direct link and landing page.

Hey...sorry for my ignorance but what is ewa? Do you get paid when someone submits their email? Sounds really interesting. Can you let me know where you went to sign up for that affiliate program?

It seems that you are missing a strategy.. without more info it's impossible to say.. by the sounds of it you were also bidding too broad

I choose keywords and URL's based on google keyword and placement tool. I also looked at quantcast and adplanner to get an idea of interests and demographics, do you think that's bidding to broad? how would you suggest going about it?

Those are very good base reference to start your CPA promo. Like Faizuddin said, they may search but not necessarily would buy or complete an offer.

        Lets understand their habit further
        1. Those who use short keywords are mostly searching, comparing or planning something. They might buy or might not buy.

        2. Those who buy will very likely use longtail keyword search. They also use action keywords.

For example : buy NINTENDO DS Online or get NINTENDO DS online.

buy or get = action keyword
online = using this keyword are people familiar with buying or getting something online.

The ones who usually convert an OFFER, are likely to use the words FREE, COUPON, DISCOUNT, GET, BUY & ONLINE.

For example : get FREE NINTENDO online.
or : Discount Coupons for NINTENDO DS online

Then there is this other case.

The person who use this longtail sentence " Best Nintendo Products " are seriously searching for NINTENDO PRODUCTS. But they might not be under the BUY mode. If they use " Best Nintendo Products Online ", the possibility is higher that they want to buy or get one.

However, these are subjective. We can never truly guess the minds of clickers.

Take a look at my case. I have 18 clicks from an impression of 30,000. But no conversion. Then on another day, I was frustrated to see only 4 clicks. But to my surprise, there was one conversion.

Please consider another logic - The Time Of the Month.
People usually are under the SEARCH MODE if they need something. They will only enter the BUY MODE during the PayDay Week - almost end of the month or early in the month.

Therefore the best time for people searching for offers are from 2nd week to end of 3rd week of the month. This time, their money is almost spent for most things. If they are impulsive or desperate, they will complete our offers because they would love to get something without spending.

Therefore, based on my logic, I will promote CPA offers on the 2nd to 3rd week of the month. And I will promote CPS offers during 1st week and 4th week of the month.

During this time of economic difficulties, people are more prudent.

Now it is no longer about just TRAFFIC to your site or offer. It is about quality traffic & TIMING.

        Hope it makes sense.

          Hello Amaznar
This sure makes sense, and these are great tips, I also think the day of the week and time of day are crucial. For exampe I think people are most likely to fill out a cpa offe during work hours as they're seeking a gatway. and maybe not so inclined to do so over the weekends, where they might view it as a waste of time

Is this offer about getting Nitendo DS? Some people search Nitendo DS but that doesnt mean they want it. Try to focus your keyword to narrow down your traffic only for those who want Nitendo DS. It should be convert.

One other thing is the amount of time it takes for the direct linked offer to show up. I had this problem with a CPA network, took ages to load the offer when I sent traffic from MediaTraffic. Then I grabbed a big banner and showed it instead of the offer. My conversions went 10 fold just because it loaded a heck lot quicker.

With a Nintendo DS offer you have to look at who would fill it out.

Typically it would be kids who want one? Who is the major demographic?

If the answer is not over 18 years old, then you don't want to bother with that offer.

For the advertiser, it's not the DS that matters to them it's all the offers that they want the user to fill out AFTER the email is submitted.
