ppc keywords???

Alex here,

I just have this simple question regarding keywords with ppc.

Is it better to have A LOT of keywords in an ad or not?

I'm not sure if thats what failed my first campaign

    I been learning sometime that it is better to have fewer keywords than a lot. Think about it you got 2,000 keyword in your ad group. It would be more efficient to break some of those keywords down and arrange into smaller ad groups like 20-30 per ad group based on like terms ex.

    weight loss
    weight loss now


    lose weight
    lose weight today

    you'll end up with less impressions because your using less keyword but you stand a better chance of not killing your wallet.

    The less is the better .

    But , remember that Google content network and Google search network have diffrenet approaches.

    Hi Alex, I think so. It is not a good idea to use huge number of keywords for campaign. You should choose some strong keywords which will pull targeted traffic. Thanks

    There isn't a hard rule about this, but here is how I organize most of my campaigns on search:

    AD GROUP 1
    keyword 1
    "keyword 1"
    {keyword 1}
    Ad 1
    Ad 2

    AD GROUP 1
    keyword 2
    "keyword 2"
    {keyword 2}
    Ad 3
    Ad 4

    What I do is have 1 keyword (3 match types) and 2 ads per ad group. This way I can make my ads perfect for each keyword and skyrocket my CTR, improve my QS and decrease my CPC.

    In your entire campaigns eventually you will want lots of keywords.. however to give a better answer we will need to know if you are attempting search or content network..

    For search - make sure you group your keywords well.. eg, have very closely related keywords in each adgroup, if you were promoting computer mice, one ad group might be Dell Mice and all keywords in this adgroup would be related to Dell Mice, another ad group might be IBM Mice and all keywords in this adgroup would be closely related to IBM Mice, then the idea is you write ads specific to each adgroup - so the Dell Mice ads would obviously include the word Dell somewhere in it to relate the ad to the keywords..
