How to track facebook ad?

Hi guys,

i am using fb ads to promote affiliate products.

I am wondering if there any way to track fb ads?

Can prosper 202/tracking 202 do the tracking?

Sure can, Prosper/Tracking does it perfectly.

But I would suggest to bypass Tracking 202 and go straight to Prosper as Tracking 202 does have delay/server load issues with so many people using it. Setting up a Prosper server will cost you the price of a .info domain, say $5 tops.

Feel free to post any specific questions you have regarding the tracking of FB ads as there are many of us here who can help you out.

    Cheers

      Hi Filter

I think, it will be a great idea if you can set the steps of installing Prosper/Tracking step by step here.

A lot of people need these steps.

Thanks Hilal, I'm actually thinking about releasing a free video series as it seems more and more people are having questions about setting up Prosper.

As Nick says above, you can use Google Analytics for your basic tracking. IMHO, Prosper kicks GA's a$$ for affiliate marketing if you know what you're doing

And as many have found, if you setup all of your sites in GA under the same account, if one site gets "busted" and de-indexed by Google (assuming you're driving SEO or Adwords traffic), the rest will follow very quickly as they already know they are all connected - they're on the same GA account. So that means setting up a new GA account for every SEO, Adwords or even Adsense site - a total pain in the A$$, totally unnecessary, and totally redundant.

Of course if you're only driving non-Google paid traffic, don't care about SEO and don't care about Adwords or Adsense, GA may be your answer.

Either way, I don't know about you, but I'd prefer Big Brother didn't know about all of my sites under the same account and I certainly don't want them tracking my conversions! (Sorry Nick, just my opinion mate)

And sorry, back to the OP, I'd still say Prosper is your #1 choice to track FB ads if you have the technical means to set it up. If not, maybe check out Tracking 202 or Bevo

        Cheers

          Hey Filter

I completely agree with you regarding GA.

So, we still share the same opinion about Prosper!

This will make it a MUST for creating those video series, right?

Actually i am kinda of lost now.
I am a newbie, trying to get into cpa network and intend to use fb to promote offers from cpa.
But it seems like most of the people here are using ppv to promote cpa offers.
Is fb ads suitable for cpa offers? if yes, what kind?

Prosper is fine but I don't like that it doesn't track costs for you. You can't run a campaign if you only have part of your data, (the conversions).

This tool: Social Ads Tool does it all, tracking, reporting, automatic bid optimization based on either CPA, ROI or Conversion Rate. It's the best Facebook Ads Tool I've ever used. It's completely hands off once setup. It manages your campaigns for you.

For sure JP, I'd say FB is one of the first places you should try promoting CPA offers. You can test a lot of offers fairly cheaply without losing your shirt.

Just be prepared for the inevitable FB ad rejection. It totally sucks but we all face it and there are heaps of threads here to guide you through it.

As for what CPA offers to promote, dating on FB is one of the easiest if you're just starting out but again, heaps of threads here to help you there mate.

But again, if you don't have your tracking setup, you're throwing darts in the dark and will be pi$$ing your $$ up against the wall.

Get Prosper, Tracking or Bevo setup before you even contemplate a campaign mate. If you're really stuck, hit me up on Skype and I'll help ya through.

    Cheers

I used to use google analytics and have since switched to prosper 202. Much better in my opinion. Pretty easy to use as well. More intuitive.

I think you'll like it as well!

Perfectly if you update all your costs manually. (at least last time I looked at it, I could be wrong now if they updated it within the past year). When you create a campaign, you would enter a cost per click. They'd use that as the number for calculating all the other numbers, (profit, roi etc).

However you might be bidding say $0.50 and enter that into p202 when setting up your campaign, BUT in reality you could actually be paying $0.36 per click. So you can go back and update that keyword individually for that avg cost per click or you can leave it at $0.50. It's not going to be completely accurate, so you're not using accurate data to make decisions, unless you manually update the numbers.

Their pro system addressed this issue by doing api downloads of cost data. That gave users 100% accurate cost data for every keyword. But that version was not free. I'm not sure if the pro version is still out there?

That's what I mean by not tracking costs for you. I should rephrase that to, it does track estimated costs, but if you want real cost data, you are on your own to update it that way manually. That's a lot of work if you have even one campaign with 50 keywords.

Other tracking solutions can get the cost data automatically which is a huge advantage.

Prosper202 definitely works if you're just doing basic Facebook campaigns. If you are split testing like crazy, and running thousands of ads then a more automated solution.

SAT is definitely a solid solution. We had some troubles getting the conversion tracking to work at first but it's all fixed up now.
