Most of the time , landing pages perform better as compared to Direct linking .

    As a general rule ...

Test both and stick with what works .

That depend on offers. Have a test after you choose offers. If you use adwords to do direct link, be care of google slap. knowing the rule before you do it.

The traffic tells you the answer to that, whether an offer needs a presell or not depends on a number of factors.

We presell virtually all offers that require a credit card, but we presell far less lead gen offers, though there are exceptions to both, and its the traffic that makes that decision for us in less than a day which are the only people you should be asking.

We do presell landers for some $2 submit offers, generally when we want to have the user sign up to multiple offers at once.

An example of this are the paid survey offers that pay a few dollars a registration. Most affiliates don't think to presell those and run one at a time, but it's far more profitable to run multiple on one lander and recommend joining them all.

You can do the same with low payout dating offers as well. A presell usually helps, but certainly not always, and no one can guess the right answer.

Also most affiliates only test one presell style which is not really a test at all.

    Take a look at these:

News 4 Reports - Your Local News Source

Same concept, different landers and one does convert quite a bit better than the other.

Then you have the now popular lifestyle blog presell:

Despite the Recession, Demand for Skilled Labor is Higher Than Ever | How Life Works

If you hope to do really well in the industry you'll need to be testing like crazy, I know a lot of guys who give up on a campaign if their main presell doesn't work, even when it's just under break even. If they weren't so lazy they could make a lot of those campaigns work by rotating other presell styles and destination offers.

Direct linking works well for campaigns promoting free lead gen offers in niches like mobile, gaming, dating, etc...

However, when promoting high-ticket offers (free trials and CPS offers) in verticals like bizopp, health, beauty, etc you will need to use a landing page, capture leads and promote the offers with an autoresponder series. It's because FB is a social network and people there are just looking for funny things to do, they don't want to buy anything, so it's not possible simply to tell them to buy something and wait for conversions.

Generally a landing page will benefit you by helping to pre-sell the visitor more.. the only downfall is it takes more time..
