What to ask your CPA contact - initially

I have not seen one post or section in a book about CPA that talks about the right questions to ask your CPA contact in the beginning. Does anyone have any suggestions because one of the key things according to the instructions is to establish a good relationship with your CPA contact.

What can I ask that will not waste his or her time? What can I ask that will help me get a better start in promoting the CPA programs. Remember, this is in the beginning or doing business. I am certain that over time the questions will change.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give and have a great day.

question #1: What kinds of traffic generating techniques should I avoid to help make you respect that I am a valuable publisher to your network?

question #2: My vertical is primarily focused on __________, what offers would you like to see me target?

question #3: Is there any thing I can do that will help you/the network make more money?

question #4: Would it be alright with you if I check in with you once a week just to touch-base and see if anything has changed?

Personally speaking as an AM, any publisher who is proactive about communication and comes to the table with a realistic agenda will always get my attention. Of course time is valuable, but there is no room for ego when it comes to a potentially healthy business relationship.

Have you been approved by any CPA network yet? If not, you should be concerned about questions they will ask you (or what you need type in the application itself) in order to approve your application.

But if you already got approved, here are some of the many questions you could ask:
    • what offer works best for these type of traffic, niche, etc?
    • sometimes they don't specify all the traffic they accept...you could ask them that
    • if you plan to Iframe you offer, you should consult them first
    • etc, etc,,,,
    Hope it helps

Just keeping contact with your manager and dropping in to say "hello" is always a nice way to get to know them

You may also want to ask for weekly updates regarding new offers being set live at your networks, some networks will send out mass communications to their publishers showcasing new or hot offers but you should always be aware of what your network(s) are bringing in.

Demographic information as far as which gender, age, location, ETC backs out best for the ADV of the offers you're running, it shows the network you place an emphasis on quality.

  • Ask your main contact if they have a list of some of the top converting offers, as well as any exclusives they own. Most AM's have ZERO knowledge about whats converting with what traffic method but you can still ask. Good to pick their brain though.

I like the idea of just starting a relationship on the first contact.

Just like normal networking, come out of the gate asking for too much, and you immediately lose their attention.

So literally, even just a "hello, my name is ken and just wanted to reach out to you to introduce myself as I will be working with you. If you need anything or want to let me know about anything, please feel free to reach out. I can't wait to work together"

Then the a little bit later you can start asking for some good inside tips. And of course when they give you any type of tip, follow up with them and let them know how its going.

For example, if they say, give this offer a shot with this traffic source, then maybe a week later you can contact them and say, thanks I've been working on that campaign you suggested, still trying to optimize it but I see potential. Feel free to check out my lander if you wish.

The whole idea is to build a relationship where ultimately they will give you more info, help, flexibility, and you will give them honest campaigns and hard work!
