BUT

Only 3 clicks really??

So from you experienced marketers who use FB constently do you think its the picture?

Its a girl smiling and the product is about weight loss.

I couldn't put up the orginal pic which was a really buff guy because of FB's guildlines.

Any reasons why only 3 clicks??

Could be that the demographic you're targeting isn't interested?

You have narrowed the demographic down right?

I did..somewhat... but with FB I don't really know where to get the stats to help me narrow the demo to get better numbers.

When I first set up the ad I "narrowed" it but still had like a ton of people in that "narrowed" field - in the high millions.

So whats considered narrowed and targeted and where can I find stats for the overweight market?

Have you done banner buys before?

It is typical, in my experience, that even the BEST (after testing 10 banners in a row), converts at 0.10%.

The worst can be even at 0.02%.

Hence, your results are actually typical, especially if you haven't aligned the ads to their interests.

Try numerous pictures not just one.

    Also,

You need to have several ads with different demographics

    Age
    Sex
    Location
    Interests

Have each ad be specific to its demographics

For example if your location is New York

    Then something like

    New York's best selling...

First and foremost find out from your AM the stats of that particular offer with FB ads, find out what the highest converting offer actually is and use that.

From there test every single aspect of your ad from the heading to the image to the copy. Ensure you are targeting the right demographic for your offer and the ad directly relates their needs/wants/desires e.t.c.

What strikes me is that it doesn't seem like you know precisely who you re targeting, you state that initially you tried to use an image of a buff guy but FB guidelines wouldn't allow so you then opted for a picture of a girl smiling.

These 2 images would attract 2 completely different types of audience, also someone who is looking to get ripped and toned like the buff guy in your ad is not the same as somebody who is simply looking to lose a few pounds and fit into their fave pair of jeans. Really think about the individuals you're targeting and how they would respond.

It's difficult to critique fully without seeing the ad but hopefully this will give you ideas to play around with.

50K+ impressions and 3 clicks is definetely bad. I usually need a CTR above 0.1% on FB to get a decent CPC, so you have a lot to improve.

Make your campaign very targeted in the beginning, use tight demographics and many interests. Then, test many ads and try to see if some of them give you a decent CTR.

Without a good CTR it's hard to get anything going on FB, so try to fix this problem before you do anything else.

Yes CTR can be extremely low while using Fb, just do more testing and you might get better one day.

It could be either from your adcopy or targeting .

I recommend that you test variety of images . Make also to check the demographics , especially the age range .

    Yes.

The average CTR on facebook is around 0.1%. Thats because people arent looking for products, they want to socialize! This is the complete opposite to Google where people are actively searching for solutions ... hence a much higher CTR + Clicks is possible.

Stick to Adwords and YSM, FB usually produces garbage traffic quality. As an alternative, make a few fanpages and spread the word. That doesn't cost much.

Any questions, just let me know.
