This is RIDICULOUS. Adwords.

Hi everyone,

Right straight to the point. Basically, I'v put £28 into my adwords account the past 2 days. I've had it set for purely google search traffic, none of their network work c**p. Anyway, my balance is empty, I've got costs of £18 (£10 missing) and the majority of the traffic is throug their network option which I've disabled! I've got it set for google search traffic ONLY as it converts 10x better.

WHAT ARE THESE MUPPETS PLAYING AT!?

World Domination and they will not stop until they reach their goal. I ran one of their 'free' try out adsense campaigns. They make the dashboard so confusing - I was checking my balance in one place, while in another place the balance was actually higher. By the time I figured it all out, I had gone over the 'free' amount. When I went to pay the balance, there was a message that any amounts under $50 would not be payable. So I took down my campaign and forgot all about it.

Come the end of the year I see Adsense listed on my credit card annual report...the buggers helped themselves.

I very much doubt that they have any setting s wrong, with your balance empty it can not spend more than you allocate per daily spend. $10 missing ? how is that ? disabled display ? but still working ?

it may be you need to send G an email outlining the errors, the system should be able to tell when what where you turned everything on / off so i am sure it will be sorted for you.

I've heard many bad things about Google and their ToS, but I hadn't heard about someone being stolen using AdWords until now.

I obviously have no way to know what happened, but if I had to bet I'd say that you've probably done something wrong. Their platform has so many options and features that sometimes even experienced advertisers can make mistakes, so I think that chances are that you missed something.

You can try to contact them, of course, but it will hardly solve the problem. In the case you've done something wrong, they may show you what it is, but they probably won't give you a refund or something similar.

    Right.

    Cheers for the replies everyone.

    I've sent them the e-mail.

I probably should have been clearer in my post. They have options as to where your, ads will be displayed (Networks and devices). On the networks option, as I'm sure most of you know, you can chose out of their display network, the google search engine, sites that use the google search engine, and websites that support the ads that you can choose yourself. I selected to have ONLY google search engine traffic, I was sure of this. Yet the majority of my clicks have come through the display network which I've disabled, I've checked liek 10 times.

About the missing funds, I put £23 in at first, which come to the total cost of about £13 if I remember correctly. Yet my balance was empty. I put in another £10, and within an hour or so, My balance was empty. My total costs standing at £18, so £10 missing. and once again the majority of it had been spend on clicks from the display network, which once again I say, was DISABLED.

No idea what the hell they're up to. Does anyone know what their support is like? When can I expect to receive a reply to my E-mail?

They best atleast refund the money spent on the display network into my accoutn or I will be P***ED OFF!

    Thanks for your help.

Count yourself lucky you were even able to get any traffic lol.

Many of us including myself have gotten our accounts
banned with no explanation as to why.

Unless you're spending a million a day with them then
Google don't give a rats ass about you.

If I were you I would find other ways of getting traffic
        than adwords.

Adwords or Adsense, depending on which side of the fence you are sitting on, are both potential time bombs, if you don't approach them correctly.

Yes, they can be beneficial to your business, but you really need to do your homework up front.

If you are on the "adwords" side of the fence, paying for the exposure, you want to be absolutely certain that you are looking at focussed campaigns, with kewsords that are specific to your product, and with limits that make sense for your business.

If you are on the "adsense" side of the fence, you really want to make sure that the pages you present are going to be relevant to the advertisement, so you can achieve a decent clickthrough rate.

Though I've not personally been on the receiving end of a ban or other problem that resulted in my advertisements or sites being denied the benefits of the exalted, I've had friends that have indicated problems such as yours. Often, the "ban" is short lived, particularly if you contact them to find out what apparently miniscule rule they think you may have overstepped, or what new requirement you aren't meeting. It's all part of a sort of dance between the big boys running the program and the rest of us that are trying to make a living out here in the apparent wasteland known as the internet.

I'm not sure that the amount of traffic you receive has much to do with how much money they are getting, but it would seem sometimes that the big dollar players seem to get preferetntial treatment, at least from the perspective of the "little guys" like us.

Maybe adwords is not for you but it doesn't mean it is not for everyone.

Each person has their own way and method of driving traffic.

I personally don't use adwords for traffic but my son does and has it working in his favor profitable without any big spending daily. He was banned couple of years ago but has accounts now again.
He also manages a company's adwords account as well and that is profitable with only a weekly outlay of round $800.

There is quite a big learning curve with adwords and you have to spend money to learn with it. Find in the forum some products from Charles Kirkland they could help you out. Cheers Bruce.d.Stewart

    Haha welcome to Adwords

There is often no rhyme or reason as to why this type of stuff happens.

It could be that you've exhausted your balance but their stats haven't updated yet to show this. Their stats are not in real time by any means.

I'm really puzzled by this. I've spent THOUSANDS of dollars on AdWords and never had any "missing" money.

The interface CAN be confusing at times (until you're familiar with it). Maybe your changes weren't saved (due to some freak network error) or... maybe you accidentally set something wrong (e.g., your network preferences, daily spending limit, etc.).

Just contact them and try to find out why it happened.

If it's really a mistake, you could get your money back too.
