what would you do before promoting CPA offers?

You might say something like getting the links and creatives, figuring out an effective way to promote, etc. If you think of those and start promoting the offer, you might have made a big mistake. You might find out that the revenue dosn't add up no matter how you spend time, effort, money on promotion.

Why? You should test the offer first before start promoting any offers. You should find a friend to do the offer for you once to see the revenue adds up or not. Most of the times it could be the error of the tracking platform or the links may have drawn from other networks too many times. Sometimes network shave leads, they set up a percentage to allowed leads in their system, so you should watch out.

Beware that your effort could be in vain. Testing out any offer is a must.

Testing is one of the most important and must do tasks of any successful CPA marketing campaign .

Always ...

Test , track and optimize .

If you are not testing and tracking , it like navigating without a compass .

I am pretty certain that one of my affiliates shaves my leads because I am sending them SO MANY! I should be making about $1000 per month from them but usually get around $500-$600

I brought it up with them once and they said a lot of people that sign up through my link have already signed up through another persons link and buy again by accident through mine

I'm not really going to argue with them because I like getting the $500-$600 per month and it is better than $0 per month!

And heck, you may find a similar offer on another network that converts twice as good! You never know.

SO what you're saying is that not only do we have compete with our competitors to get the leads, money, traffic (whatever) you also need to fight (too strong), keep an eye on our affiliate programs? what a craaazy world you can't got out and earn an honest buck... This is awesome advice. I would add that you should try to maintain a close contact with your Affiliate Manager(s). They are usually willing to help you out with more in depth questions such as what offers they have most control over (which can lead to higher payouts, no lead caps, additional creatives).

Networks have a tough time dealing with advertisers, so just because you see a high paying or high converting offer on a network doesn't mean that's the end of it. Advertisers are usually picky with restrictions, lead/traffic quality, scrubbing bad conversions, etc.

You want to make sure your network has a good relationship with that advertiser which will help you succeed with them over time (and enjoy additional perks that come with it).

Yes, definitely agree with Kenster here.
You should split test till your face turn blue. Also Do not split test everything at once..
one element at a time . I learnt this lesson by hard and cost me a lot of money.
Rotate a few offers and you'll see the difference..
