New post on http://blog.ads.pof.com! An advertiser split tested the "clickers" options to see which one worked best. Results are very surprising!

Sorry POFben, but POF advertising don't work same for all users. I have spent about $100 testing campaigns and targeting using Quantcast and Alexa analytics and all I got is 1 lead only. While using the recommended bids.

I personally think Quantcast etc handicaps you. Because people will go in with a super targeted campaign (based on what Quantcast tells you) instead of doing a proper split test and letting the results tell you where to go.

I have been advised to use this tools by my AM and I don't think he wants to handicaps me since he makes money when I earn money.
Quantcast and Alexa don't give strange information since it just tells about the visitors in general as for dating sites
Age, Sex, location, Material status, Income, etc..
But getting only 1 lead, that gives me a big question mark.

I promise you, if your AM was also financially responsible, you'd get better advice than, "plug in what Quantcast/Alexa tells you to".

You might have to explain this to me (if you respond to the thread, please send me a PM alerting me so that I can come back and check it), but I don't think that the idea of people who click = people who convert isn't a hard one to grasp neither is it one that requires proof.

I think it is a rule of thumb that the number of people that click your site, from motivations ranging from genuine interest to accidental clicking, will always, always be larger than the people that join it. And the people that join it will always, or at least a great deal of the time, be greater than the number of returning or consistent visitors/customers.

I agree that affiliates get so bogged down in finding the exact right demographic that they go way too targeted and lose any potential for volume.

Put it this way, a woman walks into Walmart, what's she there to buy?

You don't know, it could a thousand different things and there's most likely more then one item on her list. So if you just used quantcast to figure out her demographic and pigeon hole her, you might miss what she actually wanted and you wouldn't get the commission on any sale.

Just saying people do more then one thing and buy more then one thing so don't get too bogged down in finding the perfect demographic.

You'd be surprised how click-obsessed a lot of affiliates are. I could literally post the opposite: "Lots of clicks = most profit" and that would be just as "common sense" as the post I just made.

Indeed, not to mention if Quantcast is telling you the "perfect demographic", 1000 other people have done exactly what you've done and is also targeting this demographic.
