Ask for proof of identity like a copy of the drivers license. Ask for tax id information. Those are a couple things I've had to provide to various CPA networks I've been accepted to. And of course talk to the person whether is be on the phone or Instant Messenger...ask them questions to see if they know what they are talking about.

Have an understanding of expected conversion rates based on the various methods of promotion. Of course this information can vary from publisher to publisher but if you have one offer and multiple publishers running it and it's converting at 6%, and then you spot a publisher converting at 25%...that should raise a red flag and you should communicate with the publisher about what he or she is doing. Also confirm with the ADV the leads are backing out for them.

One the best ways to prevent fraud, dont let it into your network. A rigid screening process (multiple forms of identification, recording the IP used to sign up then verifying the IP resides in the same location as the publishers address, do the same with the area code when they list their phone number, calling all applicants to make sure they have the knowledge you are looking for.

It may be an extensive process but making sure only the top quality publishers get into your network will make your life much easier when publishers start running.

  Best of luck.
