CPA Network Need SSN Why?

I don't understand why cpa network took my social security number for.

Are they report what we make in commission to the IRS at the end of the year?
If they do if we going to owe tax to IRS. I'm so confused, can anybody explain this?

    To verify your identity?

They probably do file tax information to the IRS

This is must for USA publisher. They need to clear identity of publisher and some tax issue.

General Guidelines: (Note some networks may have different wording or requirements, this is for U.S. citizens)

In accordance with U.S. tax law and IRS regulations, they need you to file a W-9 form so that they can report income generated through the network.

If you earn more than $600 in a calendar year, you will then receive a tax form 1099-MISC.

When you fill out the tax info, it is NOT being reported to the IRS, they just need to have the form on file in the case your income level (above $600) requires a report at the end of the tax year.

I've only used Neverblue and MaxBounty and since they're Canadian they don't require a SS#. I guess you're on the honor system to report your taxes if your income exceeds $600 in a year. eBay, as far as I know, doesn't have my SS# as a seller either.

Personally, I'd be reluctant to give a CPA company my social. I'm also curious if anyone has had a problem with ID theft by supplying theirs to a shady CPA company?
