[Email Submit Case Study] The Infamous Poll Strategy – How I Made $40/day for 2 Weeks

Hey guys,

Just wanted to show a quick example how you can profit with email submits using the poll strategy on LeadImpact. I was able to make $40/day for 2 weeks before it died. The campaign only took me about 30 minutes to setup.

The key here is to capitalize on trending topics. If you setup a campaign quick enough you can get high traffic with low competition.

Remember a few months back when U.S. Women's Soccer was all the rage? It wasn't just because people were feeling patriotic. A lot of guys were drooling over 2 of the team's players. Specifically Hope Solo & Alex Morgan.

I personally don't see what the fuss is about but that's not point. If a massive amount of people are talking about something, I'm interested.

Traffic Source: Lead Impact
Angle: Who's Hotter Hope Solo or Alex Morgan?
Email Submit: Ipad 2
Demographic: Men

I simply gathered a bunch of keywords/urls for Hope Solo & Alex Morgan and setup the campaign in Leadimpact.

I'm all about Ugly Landing Pages. For whatever reason they convert the best for me.

After the visitor clicks either button, they reach this page:

This is basically a glorified php redirect. After a few seconds they are redirected here:

Those links point to your favorite email submit offer. In this case it was an iPad2 submit. As you can see, there's nothing fancy here.

Most campaigns like this have a shelf life. This particular was profitable for around 2 weeks. I've had other campaigns last for 3 months. It depends on the popularity of the topic.

That's it! This isn't rocket science. It's just a matter of testing things out and digging until you find gold.

  • Awesome bro, congrats for your success and thanks for sharing!

How much did you spend to earn that much?

    Thanks.

    • Awesome example Lead-Ninja!

Ugly banners and landers DO work better, because people believe all these "fancy" and professional banners/landers are just ads, IMO.

In their mind they believe you are trying to sell them something if it looks TOO professional.

    • I spent around $10-$20 per day.

  • haha awesome! Really like campaigns like this, easy to setup & easy money
  • Good work Now one of the big keys to making this last longer is either rotate through a TON of email submits or find other offers to fit into the backend that will convert
    • [2] replies
    • Definitely. Totally agree with you.
    • This campaign fatigued quickly because interest in Hope Solo & Alex Morgan waned. No amount of other email submits or other offers would have made it last longer.

  • Facebook Advertising... Hint, Hint, Hint....

btw.. thanks for the nice guide man! People forgot that the most simplest things also work..

  • I just realized this may be relevant again since Hope Solo is now on Dancing With the Stars.

    Who's taking the plunge???
  • Great job with your campaign! But I know many networks don't allow poll sites for promoting email and zip submits.

Could you share the network you work with for these poll sites? Or do you guys know which networks accept this?

    • Nice case study..

how do you monitor your campaign... prosper202?

Its a nice and worth a shot strategy

    Best Regards

  • nice method.

But why u saying that it died?
    • [1] reply
    • It "died" because the topic was no longer trending. The world cup ended.
  • @leadgenninja I am new to PPV stuff and I have two questions here:

LeadImpact requires a minimum $200 deposit to start with. I wouldn't spend that unless I test their traffic with a lower amount. So, do you know of CPV networks that require a lower minimum deposit or no minimum deposit at all?

Secondly, I read on another thread that it may take a week for a campaign to get approved by LeadImpact. Is this true?
    • [1] reply
    • For minimum deposit, DirectCPV requires $100, MediaTraffic is $100, AdonNetwork requires $25 only. But from my test, leadimpact has more volume of high quality traffic.

Its not true, at least for me. LeadImpact usually approved my campaigns within 24 hours on weekdays.

  • Can you give a tutorial about it, so here we can learn from what you already do. I wait.

    • Great info, appreciated :p
  • I used the same thing with AdWords, before it kicked the bucket.
  • Nice Method!
  • another thing I like doing is making a drop-down list of links for the person to pick their choice of about 5 different offers

usually the 5 top converting for the demographic I am using
  • Old method, but it always works! Anyone still have luck with Adwords on this?
    • [1] reply
    • I used to used to run polls on adwords but I don't it works anymore because of google's strict landing page policy.
  • POLLS! Wait a minute surely this "outdated" method cannot work today because it's not brand new?!?!!?!

(Hint: they still work, you can't do them directly on adwords, but you CAN still do them indirectly on any traffic source in the world, INCLUDING adwords.)

Rules may change, but solid methods always work.

    • Funny how tons of people say Polls don't work and are old... ESPECIALLY since some of the most profitable co-reg landers are simply poll style landers. As are many successful email submits.

But I guess when it's done with co-reg, it's new age and fancy.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • great one. but i want a small bugdet case study that i can follow.no more than 200$ will be good
  • leadgenninja, great share man.

I was curious, I have a site that gets around 7k google visitors per month free and I am having trouble monetizing it. Will this poll thing you got going here work for a "movies related" site with a poll like which movie is better a or b? instead of the soccer player poll you have going? I mean my keyword isnt a trend keyword so I will likely get the around 7k visitors as long as I keep my 2nd slot in google or double it if I manage to go to nr 1 for my 60k a month movie related keyword.

Help me monetize and I will happily give a slice of the $$
  • Polls work with anything. Movie sites are fine, just pose a question with a popular movie/actor/anything.

  • Hello,

Very nice post... great sharing... thanks for this post. Very nice Movie site..
  • thank u so much for the complete working system - good start for many...
  • Awesome technique. Since you were getting good response from LeadImpact ads, you could have tried advertising on other places like facebook or other PPV networks.
