Good list, however what are the criterias for naming exactly these and not any other networks to be named "Top 50"? How did you compare them and range them to be #1, #10 etc.?

No they are NOT adsense alternate. Nothing can compete adsense. If adsense pays $100, they won't pay more than $2.

Especially adbrite and clicksor suck big time. Don't waste your time on those

hi there! of these, which would be the best for someone who is new to start out with?

also, op, could you specify which ones you can use WITH adsense?
(chitika and bidvertiser, for example can be used in conjunction with adsense.)

I can't say for all the networks, but Fidelity Media can definitely be used WITH Adsense, but it's not even on the list (((
That's why I asked about the criterias the Topic Starter used for creating the list.

I use adsense mostly. I tried all the small networks but the results were horrible. So i just stick to adsense plus private advertisers.

Give infolinks a try. There s no comparison with adsense but it makes you some money with US traffic.

The list makes no sense. Some are behavior targeting companies, some are PPC companies, some are video ad companies. A few aren't as far as I know, still in business.

As for peanuts, some of them are high-cpm representation networks and pay much higher than adsense. A few are niche networks...

valley120, you are wrong here. Many of Networks listed above have billions of dollars turnover. And if your traffic is good enough, ad networks will pay you.
Actually many networks can be used TOGETHER with AdSense, so it's just an idea how to make your revenue more. Nobody suggests here refusing from using AdSense on your site. IMHO.

okei, first if site is Good and Traffic is from Search Engine..Then Obviously Adsense, Infolinks+ Luminate ads gives you around 20-50$ per day..I was earning like 50bucks per day with combination of above 3 network. Now I do mostly CPA..as CPC make me Try...Still One part of my sites is CPC..Good list you gave but they are not Categorized with proper numbers they deserve..as adbrite is now a days like 00 value..and cpxinteractive is used now a days on movies and game sites mostly..So what category each can have?

Here is some review from me

    Intellilinks

More and more publishers seem to trying Intellilinks and staying with it. It's a simple way of selling text links on your website. Setup is straightforward. Instead of using Javascript, there's a server side PHP snippet that needs to be included in your site templates, which means it loads instantly. This can ad code can be added with a WordPress plugin if that's better for you.
Once you've got that running, everything else is automatic but you also have full control over which links are displayed on your site.
Intellilinks has two types of ads. Standard links look somewhat like a small vertical AdSense link unit while contextual links are used to automatically form paid links within the content of your site.
See Intellilinks for more info and samples.

    Clicksor

The ads you'll get from Clicksor are available in a number of formats including inline text iinks, text and image banners, pop-unders and interstitial ads. You can choose to use all or only some of these ad formats.
Provided you have a decent looking site that meets the content guidelines acceptance is fast. I've also found the support people to be great.
There's a choice of payment options - Paypal, check or wire transfer - with payments being issued every 15 days, provided you've hit the minimum threshold of $50.
Revenue share for publishers is up to 85% of ad income. See Clicksor for more.

    Chitika

Chitika prides itself on delivering high CTRs and eCPMs. It's worth trying on any site but bear in mind that Chitika tends work best on sites that are product related - especially if those products are technology, gadget or other electronic or electrical items.
Chitika shows ads based on what the user was searching for just prior to arriving on your site. This means the ads they show are usually tightly targeted to your audience, making an ad click more likely. As well as the relevance factor, two other plus points in their favor are compatibility with AdSense (you can mix AdSense and Chitika ad units on the same page) and that the ads aren't shown to users that haven't come from a search engine.
That means you can serve highly targeted ads to search-led visitors but display regular AdSense units to everyone else without having to show both ad units at the same time. Chitika has an option to set AdSense as a backup ad, so you only need to include one ad code to do this.
In addition to a good choice of ad sizes, Chitika also has mobile ads.

    adBrite

While there are some filters available to publishers using AdSense, the fact is you don't have a lot of say in which advertisers and ads appear on your site. If that's important to you take a look at adBrite
You're also able to do two things publishers often want to do but can't with Google - set your own rates and display a "click here to advertise" option, making it a good way to offer inhouse ads. You can set the lowest rate you're prepared to display ads for and set a backup ad network for times when that level can't be met by adBrite advertisers.
This all sounds good but I've yet to find a publisher happy with their adBrite earnings. That's also been my experience - great system but low payouts. Better to use it for serving your own ads.

    Shopzilla

This is another ad network that works best on websites that are product-orientated. A slightly clunky interface allows you to create an ad code that displays shopping links based on static or dynamic keywords you define.
Earnings can be good but it's worth giving Shopzilla a few days to pickup on the product links that work best for your audience, rather than just make a judgment based on the earnings of the first day or two. Given the nature of the ad style and destination links, Shopzilla is often a good fit for shopping based sites.

    Bidvertiser

Bidvertiser offers a great pay-per-click ad program with an interesting twist. As well as a standard payout on each click, Bidvertiser now offers a Conversion Bonus to those publishers who send their advertisers high quality traffic that converts well to real leads or revenue. These bonuses are added automatically to monthly publisher payments.
To qualify you need to send good quality traffic and place the Bidvertiser ad block above the fold and use one of the most popular ad sizes of 728Ã--90, 160Ã--600, 300Ã--250, 120Ã--600, 468Ã--60, or 336Ã--280.
Bonus tip: With the exception of 468Ã--60 these are the most lucrative ad sizes with most ad networks, including Google AdSense. Find out more about Bidvertiser here.
The company also offers a free Revenue Generating Toolbar option too.

    AdBull

For something completely different, try AdBull. In one of the most innovative advertising platforms I've seen, AdBull briefly places a small text ad near the mouse cursor when the site has finished loading. After a couple of seconds, the ad discreetly moves to the lower left corner of the screen - out of the way but still visible and clickable to users who are interested.
Ads open in a new window and the whole flow of the system isn't nearly as disruptive as it may sound in this description. AdBull is claiming great click through rates for publishers who use their ad network. You can find out more about AdBull and view a demo here.
So here are some of the best AdSense alternatives. Our definition of "best" is that these programs are well-established and found by many site owners find work as well - or better - than AdSense.
Important Tip - Don't Skip This
If you're experimenting with different ad networks and are planning to mix AdSense units with ads from other networks on the same page it's a really good idea to check the terms of service for both ad networks. You need to make sure you don't get into hot water with either company and jeopardize your account with either.
The basic rule is that provided the two ad units couldn't be confused with one another you should be fine. But remember to take a minute to check for yourself. On with the list...
I'm going to start with the two networks that seem to be mostly commonly used as a replacement for AdSense - Intellilinks and Clicksor.

    Final Recommendations

For my money, if you haven't tried them before, the two best networks to test are Intellilinks and Clicksor.

Since we're talking about Adsense here which is a CPC system I don't think we can compare it with buysellads (it is a CPA system right?). Most people who use adsense are micro niche site owners and normally with the kind of traffic micro niche sites are getting I doubt it would be pair well with a CPA ad system.

Anyway, if you guys have ever been to NichePursuits (Spencer Haws' website), you would have heard of Spencer's recent ban from adsense. He reviews some of the ad networks you have listed up there, but NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO ADSENSE. He earned 1/3 of what he earned previously with adsense with the alternatives listed up there.

Moral of the story is, if you are eligible to use adsense, it is the best network out there but use it with extreme caution and follow their rules closely because it will be a huge drawback to get banned from adsense.

But if you have been banned by adsense and have no other choice, then according to Spencer Infolinks is one of the best alternatives.

There are thousands of people that get banned from Adsense.

Alone with that Google is starting to banned people from Adwords if their Adsense has been banned.

This list is crucial to these people. Sometimes you just cant have the best.

I've been banned from adsense for about 4 years now. I've tried a bunch of alternatives and they all really sucked compared to adsense. I mean they really sucked - those were Adbrite, Clicksor and Bidvetiser. The most important part is the payouts and those 3's payouts were totally horrible and not worth it. Ever since I tried those 3 alternatives I've stopped using PPC ads on my sites.

Can we perhaps make a more definitive list (top 100 maybe)? I'd be willing to give it a go but I don't know much about them. It's just there's a lot of advertising networks posting here saying they aren't on the list and on top of that the programs need to be categorized and perhaps voted on for #1 -> #10 positions. Can we add polls on these forums?

AdSense is NOT the best. If you have a narrow niche site and there are plenty of CPA offers then you'll make more by not having AdSense on your site.

I had to take AdSense off some of my sites this month. I switched to CPA offers and my revenue has gone up 25%. Next month should be even better, because I only found out the other day that one of my sub-niches pays out like crazy on CPA offers, but AdSense is just a few cents a click.

If you have to have an alternative this list is a great start. If a publisher is truly looking for more income from advertising additional sources like adhesive.co are great. They will pay CPM, and these ads don't replace other ads so you will make more money

As a manager of a self-serve ad platform, I believe that almost none of them will allow these payment options.
Open a PayPal account or ask for wire transfers to your current bank account.

I haven't heard of one that works with Payza yet. Most ad platforms work with PayPal or Wire transfer. Why not just open a PayPal account, you can do it in seconds and it's the easiest way to get paid.

IMHO, chitika and infolinks are great alternatives for those who hate being adsense publishers.
Their click pay is not too bad. Recently, adsense is getting suck as they banned publisher without appropriate reasons.

      Hey Denise,

These are in fact great alternatives. I recently started working with Adsgadget, an ad network that launched this year, we've been seeing great results and conditions are great. In case you were still looking for alternatives

      Cheers!

Hahahah i see these lits of add networks all the time. Persnally i would love it if someone could write a list instead either displaying the best paying advertisers or the estimated CPM or CPC rates. After doing web design for so long now i am sick of advertisers pay rates lower than the majority of street cleaners in most developing countries earn. Personally 1,000 impression and 39p is criminal.

yeah this is a good list....however....as far as making money with adsense...or any of these....you have to ask yourself a question...

....and that is....how much money do I want to make?

...Adsense income is real..and some folks are killing it...but it ain't all roses and butterflies....it takes work to make a full time income...

...and adsense is the big player....simply because it is the content network..and tons of advertisers still use it...because google is the number one search engine.

..so I have discovered that in order to build a decent income via adsense....you have to either....

..build a shit load of smaller niche sites..that get ranked on page 1 for a bunch of terms..

...or...build a large authority site....that is built around niches that have a lot of searches...and where advertisers will pay more to have their ads shown on the content network....

...so like insurance....loans..credit...anything around finance and money....fitness...wellness....make money....etc..

that way....when someone clicks on one of your adsense ads on your blog...you will get a higher dollar figure...or percentage....because the advertiser is paying more...

    Thanks for putting this together.

I wonder if anyone's willing to share any intel on which niches may be best represented by advertisers on any given network? For example, is a particular alternative more popular amongst weightloss advertisers, or sports advertisers, etc. I wonder how people track this?

As a publisher, it makes sense to spread things around a bit and if we can find which ad networks are best for which niches, perhaps we can ensure we're presenting our content with the ads that are going to have the most competitive bids from advertisers.

Its always a good idea not to put all of your eggs in one basket. Google does have a reputation for banning accounts for no reason. Some networks out there, because they are smaller, will be more lenient with publishers and not automatically ban accounts. Also, Autoblogs are accepted in a lot of the lesser know networks.

many of ad network set minimum page views and unique visitor per day. They also check for alexa ranking before granting your application. Some also check if your contents are not violating copyright issue.

I have been using bidvertiser and they are paying too low. They don't even consider enabling the bid options

Adsense is best because remembers your query searches and displays relative ads later on.
