If we use the word "iPhone", is it concern with legal issue?

Hi warriors,
I read that if we promote CPA offers and we use certain words in our website URL, it will cause legal issue. I read that we will be sued if we use copyrighted words.

I saw that some sites are using for example www.free-iphone.com, get-free-iphone.com or www.get-free-iphone.com. Is that ok?

I am not sure about that, but it could depend on country in which you promote offer.
For me it depends on the local law

If the campaign have some restrictions for special keywords then you will be sued to use them. Read always the campaign description.

In the US, Apple could technically sue you for the use of their trademark as you are profiting from their product. That said unless you are pulling in insane amounts of money I highly doubt they would even care. I mean look at the jailbreak sites.....iphonehacks dot com and others have a trademarked name and we KNOW Apple is aware of them.

Thats good advice. Also Microsoft Adcenter wouldn't let me use the word "iPhone" in my ads. I used phrases like "Smart Phone" , "3G Phone" etc.

Above are the the first page results for keyword free iphone and all of them have iphone in them and promoting CPA offer. I don't know but if it's copyright infringement then why don't Apple takes action against them

I would keep any trademark terms out of your domain name, it would suck if you got a site profitable and had to take it down because of a trademark issue. Use the term 'iphone' in your site content for sure because that can easily be changed if you have to without losing the whole site and income.

    Just my opinion

As a rule I stay away from domains with copyrighted names as a buddy of mine got screwed over a year or so back because of a netflix related domain. But, hey a lot of people are doing it if you want to have a go then why not? Apple doesn't really seem to be doing much but I'd still hate to put the work in to get a cease and desist letter somewhere down the road.

Don't invest money on trademark domains if it is risky - today - tomorrow - after tomorrow.

    Just my personal opinion

If some one or many of them are selling websites on Flippa, it doesn't mean that these sites will not get any problem in future. And rather then Flippa you can see such hundreds of websites in search engine. What I want to say here is, if there is only 10% chance that trademark domain could face any problem in near future then better to stay away to invest your money on such domains.
