Help me with my QRcodes and CPA offers...Please

I created a 2"x4" QRcode with graphics to a mobile CPA offer. Targeted my demographics. (btw...the male audience has done far better than the female audience with this offer).

I put the promotion out for a test run in a targeted area (somewhat). I feel that I could do a lot better with the conversions though. I can get the scans but it's not doing as well as it should with conversions.

The offer is only pays out .80 cents with an EPC of 0.24. Am I going in the right direction? I know the payout kinda sucks at first sight but it should make up on the short fall by having it tightly (I could have done it a little better) targeted.

What can I do/change to make this more enticing to scan and follow through with?

  • If you have access to knowing a discount on a specific product, you might use that instead. The vagueness leads to a little distrust on a user's part.
  • Use the QR code as a secondary to the ad, seeing a big QR code, next to a little writing wont intrigue anyone. Your ad is what counts, so concentrate on that, and have the QR as a secondary in the corner of the ad next to the website name or whatever other info is there.

    Also, look into your targetting, because I would say <50 years old should be your target. Think about who will even know what a QR code is, let alone be able to use Google Goggles or whatever app to identify decode them. 80 cents is a little on the cheap side as well.....just rethink your ad design and your CPA offer, either way, goodluck, creative thinking.

      Surprised by the findings but great to hear that the male demographic is catching up with the use of the Codes.

      I'd also use a Dynamic QR Code, like QRcodesYouControl.com for example, so that you can change the content of the Code anytime you like without having to re-print the QR Code. Saves time and money. Big time.

    As far as creating context beneath the code. It needs to be short, simple and catchy. Men tend to be short attention span.

    Nothing on the side or you will have no conversions and nothing above. You want to position the title to the basis where you are able to help them align the scanner. When they see the text, they often times go back up but remember the context.

    For example:

    QR code-----------------------
    --------------------------
    ----------------------------------
    ------------------------------
    ----------------------------------
    Then the text, about the same text in normal coding, nothing too fancy, nothing too elaborate. If the code is black & white, then you should have the text to be bold & black in "....." wording.
  • Yeah I agree with RepATX. Needs a simple font and the image seems old school. Have you tested any pic/headline variation on a PPC or PPM campaign?

    • Here are my revisions so far based on what some of you guys said. I also cropped and did a single one without images on the side. I will probably test against the two to see the scan to conversion rates.
  • Try finding something with a payout over a dollar. Speak with your affiliate manager to see what's converting best for this type of campaign.
