I am just getting into direct buys and finally had a webmaster return an email of mine. Here are his rates. I am wondering what anyone with more experience here thinks of them:

"So it's a 468*60 rotating banner spot (max 6 rotating banners total). The site is getting ~72k visits per month / 210k page views. The basic rate is $3/1000 impressions or $85 per month."

His numbers are a little inflated from what quantcast tells me. What else should I ask, find out?

TIA!

Quantcast won't gove you exact numbers because traffic is estimated not exact. "468*60 rotating banner spot (max 6 rotating banners total)" 468X60 is the banner size. 6 banners will be rotated total, that means your banner won't be sitting still ( it will be switched on every page view )

"$3/1000 impressions or $85 per month" $3 for every thousand time your banner show up.
For the exact $85, you need to find out how many impression the website can deliver to your banner so you can figure out which 1 will be best to go with.

Ok, thanks for your reply. Are those numbers ok in terms of cpm, number of visits? What else should I ask? Number of impressions, and where the banner is being placed? Thanks again.

well it doesn't say where the banner is going to be place. make sure it's above fold. As price for CPM $3 is very expensive but it depends on the niche. If you think this place can get you highly targeted traffic and you have a solid offer and sales funnel then you could turn it around.

    Hi Cucr3,

I like people who takes action and you just did by contacting webmasters. Keep doing that and get more webmasters to promote your banners.

Its good to get your 468x60 banner rolling, Now try to focus on 120-160x600 and 728x90 banners, they converts best.

Paying a monthly fee is great and the price you stated above is good. Just try to test out the service for 2 or 3 days to see if the traffic is good or not.

    Good luck
