Words of wisdom for a new CPA Warrior?

Hello fellow Warriors,

I'm about to make the jump into CPA. I have several excellent established revenue streams behind me (relevant to other areas of this forum), and I'd like to put some of that cash flow to work.

I understand the risks that come with learning and practicing PPC CPA, but I also have seen the rewards, and I'm prepared to invest some time and money into learning how to make this work.

So far, I've heard of people using 7search, facebook ads, Adwords, POF, and smaller media sites to buy advertising, and I'm still trying to decide which I will use as my starting point.

I'm starting off with very limited knowledge - I've read a few eBooks and watched some videos, read many of your posts, but I'm still a little nervous jumping off the deep end.

If anyone here with experience has any nuggets of wisdom to share with me and others about to take the plunge, I would be eternally grateful. In exchange, I will be sharing all of the insights and knowledge I gain as I progress.

Further, I would be happy to share my own considerable experience in other areas of IM with anyone willing to help me get a foothold in the world of CPA. I look forward to hearing from all of you :]

Like you mentioned, there are several avenues for CPA. I would decide on one and focus on it to give it a fair shot. I personally like FB because of how well you can target your audience on it. And don't forget to test different copy, different images, etc. I'm always amazed at how much one little tweak will affect CTR.

I also agree that Facebook would be an interesting start. They have good international volume, are affiliate friendly and use demographics and interests, which makes it easier for us to use angles and create smart, creative, targeted campaigns.

Start with simple lead gen offers and be creative with your approaches. Split-test ads and focus on getting a high CTR, which will decrease your CPC. I usually don't see super high EPCs on FB, so what allows me to make my campaigns profitable is my ability to pull the CPC down.

Learn as much as you can from this forum and some CPA blogs, but get a budget and be prepared to learn the most important lessons in the practice. Test, test and test. This is the key to learn PPC.

P.S.: I think my 2 quick guides can help you in case you decide to go with FB:

Williamrs, excellent posts there. These really are nuggets of gold.

One of the areas I'm still unsure about is landing pages - when do you make a landing page, when do you direct-link? Do landing pages hurt conversions, and where can youfind guides on making the most effective? When should you use a cloaker?

I personally prefer pof. It depends what you are trying to promote. I notice when I advertise on FB that the thing that impacts my CTR most is the picture. Definitely keep that in mind when you are split testing. And remember to use targeting tricks, I know pof has some guides on how to use them.

Is POF easier to use from a restrictions/banning point of view? Can you get enough volume to generate good revenue? What kind of stats would you consider "good" using POF?

Easier than Facebook? They are about the same. I haven't had a problem with either a far as being restricted or banned. As far as the volume it really depends on what your promoting. I typically promote high paying trial offers and see good results.

I guess on POF you focus mainly on dating type offers? had any luck selling non-dating stuff there as well?

Definitely planning to start with PPc (probably Facebook to start) with a budget of about $50 a day for starters as soon as I get back to the USA. I'm determined to make this work.

One last question i still have - when should I use a landing page and when should I direct-link to the offer?

Should have this up before you start.

piece of advice... better to have a coach/mentor from the very beginning. research on this thoroughly. got a bunch of good mentors here in WF, you're in the best place for that. Having a coach will save you time, effort and money in the long run.
