Hi Warriors,

Whatever i designed(Ugly, professional) , I couldnt reach more than 0.4% CTR with banners.Mostly I use 300X250 above the fold and offers are targetted.

What is your highest CTR with banners? What should i expect for avarage CTR with banners?

Thanks.

  • Well CTR always depends on placement, visitor location and traffic source! I run Tech blogs and I used 300 X 250 box and I'm easily getting over 1.5% CTR!
  • I once made it to 6% with a leaderboard, but soon after that, when more traffic came, it dropped to about 2.5%.

  • Can we see some examples of these banners please?

If you use Adwords Display Network, you could use Video Banner Ads. The CTR is higher than ugly rectangular ads.

To create the video, you could use Animoto.
  • I remember a case study of a crazy CTR on a direct ad placement from buysellads where there add look like navigation on the site. so try to look not like an add but an information box.

If that doesn't work have your 3 years create that crappy add that the industry has no clue why it works.

size of the banner is one of the first criteria an internet marketer looks at when optimizing display network campaigns.my highest size of the banner is 300Ã--250 has the highest CTR of 0.37%.
  • Media buying involves many elements... Niche, banner, ad spot, site, etc... so it's hard to talk about general numbers when it comes to CTR, EPC, etc... But here are some rules that can help you improve your CTR:

    * Use ugly, eye-catching banners. It's different and it grabs people's attention

    * Contrast is very important, so use a banner that contrasts with the site's color scheme

    * Pick spots that are above the fold so that everybody is expose to your ad

    * Pick spots that are close to the content, because that's what people look for when they get to the site

    * Avoid spots that are close to other ad spots

    * Don't use too much text with your ads, just a short and strong call-to-action

    I hope it helps you.

I got a CTR of 1.09% in one of my test runs. But the order was pulled out real fast, so didn't make much money. But I still made a decent amount for those.
