I have this situation happening more often recently: Got a campaign thats getting very good ctr's for multiple hours...then when it gets close to ''prime'' hours(7pm+), the clicks stop coming in and my ctr goes down alot...Thing is i thought it was just my bid needing to be raised, so i did play with it alot...but nothing seems to get it back at a good ctr so my campaign doesn't make money for hours...

Can ads have super high ctr's on slow hours then suck when its time to perform? lol

The time of the day does influence CTRs. You need to do testing to figure out what time your target market surfs the web. For example, I've found that campaigns that target older crowds (such as Life Insurance) perform better in the morning (starting at 6-7am) than at night since they usually go to be earlier. And offers targeting young adults (such as Win a Free iPad) perform better in the afternoon til late at night, in other words when they're not it school.

The PPC game is about demographics. Do your research and you will increment your CTRs and conversions. It's not about lots of clicks, it's about conversions.

Can you set campaigns to only fire at certain hours?

How many impressions have you run on these ads? Are these proven ads over a significant amount of impressions, and then you monitor them at night and they are not getting clicks?

It might just be that you ran them for a few hours, which is not significant enough of data yet, so you can't determine that your ads are indeed high CTR. You might still not be bidding high enough btw. What was your bid?

They're proven ads for months, i've had them on rotation every now and then when ctr's drop...

What i'm experiencing with them these days is unusual tough...And i've even raised my bids to 1.10-1.20$...When i had no problem running them around 0.80 last week...

Yeah, without knowing the specifics, POF tends to get competitive from the new year through valentines. It gets less competitive as the year goes on. Could be seasonal.

Did you take into account the time zone difference? Perhaps your demographic wherever they are are in bed by the time 7 your time comes rolling along.

But then he wouldn't be getting impressions from those people. He's saying he's getting impressions but clicks go way down.

Yes i did...I've been running this campaign for a bit over a year...Time zone isn't the problem.

Exact. So let's say its a seasonal competition, that would mean even tough i've tried raising my bids by 0.30$ it's still not enough? 1.20+ seems alot for a cpm! lol

Not saying that you should be bidding that high or not, but I've seen people bid in $2 for cpm. You probably can't afford to bid anything higher than $1.20, but why not try it for a bit and see if anything changes?

The weird thing was that actually i was now overbidding...Where has i could bid in the 0.80$ before...now i could lower it...bidding too high actually caused the "slow down" of my campaign...

It's just about getting a good feel with it. Try a range of bids and see what happens with the amount of traffic. Bidding higher shouldn't decrease your traffic, so I'm not sure what you're seeing. The mechanics of POF wouldn't lower your traffic due to higher CPM bid giving you lower session depths with the users. There are more traffic at lower session depths, obviously. Hope that makes sense?

Right, well the mechanics of PoF are surprising at times...lol
Luckily my campaign's back where it was, at a lower bid than before, good!

So...you made a lot of POF accounts, but you didn't know how to use any of them. But after reading this thread, you got the hang of using your multiple POF accounts? Well, congrats man! That makes total sense.

Hello, I am having some problems getting my CPA ads approved with POF. It looks they don't see the same landing page I do and as a result they are not approving them.

Does this happened to anyone here? any suggestion?

    Thanks!

Hello Tom, thanks for your time. Based on the reason the Ad was declined it was clear it was not the same LP I was seeing as they were seeing something in a different language, and other discrepancies from what I was submitting. I contacted them and they reply really fast so I am trying to get my first POF campaign approved now.

Do u have any experience with POF ads and CPA? good results?

        Thanks Again!

This sounds like it could be a country redirect problem. What that means is that if visitor clicks on your ad and they're in a country where the offer doesn't run, the CPA network will redirect them to a different offer.

The first thing I would do is see which countries your offer accepts traffic from, then set your geotargeting on POF to only target those countries.

Yes, what I was concerned about was the location of reviewers, maybe if they are in a different country from which my offer is targeting they won't see the "real" ad, but I already spoke to them and solve the issue.

            Thanks!

And there it goes again...For the past 2days my campaign starts very strongly (overall campaign ctr in the 0.8-1%) at my usual bid...Then around 5pm(UK time zone), it stops doing well, i start playing with my bid but nothing seems to get it back working...After 3hrs, i've had like 6clicks!!

Just like last time, i've tried bidding super high(like 0.50-0.60 cents more) and bidding lower too...

Could it be that its dying with the evening users vs those who log earlier? Is that possible?

Variations in the CTR are normal in different periods of the day (some periods may have more competitors). So, the best you can do is pause the campaign during the periods it has a bad performance and run it only when you can get a good CTR.

Sure i know ads get ctr variations...but this particular campaign has never had such variations during peak hours. Pausing it during times where i get most of my conversions usually would be stupid...lol
