Have you ever signed up for CPV? Is this typical?

Hi all, trying to get setup with CPV to try some of Anik Singal's latest techniques. In his webinar, directCPV is used. So, I tried signing up with them. Normally, I do not even give out my SS#, but with the IRS getting, uh, hmmm, more serious, you see it.

But, now, they have sent an email requiring extreme stuff for my credit card beyond what was entered onsite, and I do not feel comfortable about that!

It smacks of a phishing scheme to me! Has anyone here also signed up with directCPV (and/or other CPV outfits)? Is this okay? Is it standard practice? Are they afraid of something because they are not completely legit?

Thanks in advance!

  • Most of the bigger CPV networks require checks like this to verify your authenticity.. I'm not a fan of DCPV by any means but it's not a phishing scam..
  • Thanks for the reply! They sent another email pulling back a bit (blacking out of all but the last 4 digits of card), but suggesting PayPal as an alternative. Which is what I wanted in the first place, but they gave the impression a default credit card was still needed on the account.

It is strange that paypal payment is so involved too. No integration what so ever. I suspect they are based in India or some such. PayPal integration is no big deal and standard on the Web these days.

    • As far as i know, other CPV networks (trafficvance, mediatraffic etc) also need id or credit card verification due to fraud issues. Just use paypal as an alternative
  • they need all sorts of verification..
    you gotta give them ...
