Facebook questions - Bidding and CPC

Hi Warriors - first time poster here,

A couple quick questions about Facebook CPA campaigns. I'm not a noob to the space, but no pro either.

It seems that CPC is determined by CTR and a Facebook's mysterious social metric / quality score during the initial boost of traffic sent to an ad, and then adjusted more slowly afterwards.

If that's the case, and assuming I want to send as much traffic as possible (for this argument's sake), why would I ever lower my bid? If I get a CPC of .25 regardless of whether I bid 1.00 or 10.00, why lower it? Can I 'push' the CPC down by underbidding? In most cases it seems to simply choke off traffic to the ad.

Also, does anyone know how lowering bids affect the bid space? I've seen CTRs go UP when the bid goes down, and I've had it suggested to me that it's because in lowering the bid your bidding on a section of your target group that is responding better to the specific ad.

Thanks! :p

You are very correct in your assumption.

But your assumption is on top of another assumption, IF YOUR AD SUCCEEDS.

My adcopy is so good, that why I bid on $2.00 in starting and after 24 hours, it adjusts itself to $0.05 - $0.10. I don't even touch my bid.

      "Can you reach level 1?"

      Was that you?

So you don't touch the bids at all? Cool... thanks for the input!

Remember, you need to test your adcopy.

And after 1-2 weeks, your adcopy should be replaced.

you really want to make them feel like you are a big spender at first, then you

    lower the bid; but there is another thing ;

seemed like the brand that you promote has to be embraced by the crowd to a degree

especially in finance(credit cards , credit score, loans), health(teeth whitening , skin care etc..) and a few others

Harrisunderwork - Elaborate on that example you gave yesterday - what sort of campaign are you running where the CPC adjusts down to .05-.10 in 24 hours? What countries? Are you running connections/exclusions?

I'm running FB games in 2nd tier Western countries (CA, AU, NZ) and getting sustained CTRs in the high .20's... and my CPC won't go that low, ~.20 is more like it... I still get traffic at lower CPCs, but nothing worth writing home about.

I dont promote games buddy. Also my traffic is for US, not 2nd tier countries. I am running offers to apps and external websites to my landing pages. Also, since my adcopy is kickass, thats why my CPC adjust to such biddings. I will upload a screenshot of what type of CTR and CPC I get.

Harris, copy is important, but targeting is just as important. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and show me an example of your stellar copy. And if you're going to show me your CTR and CPC then also show me number of impressions and country as well, so I know it's sustainable in the US. Then I'll be impressed.

Well it seems you know everything but still not able to make a good campaign. Everyone has its own preference. Its obvious nobody is going to show its winner copy. Also there is no example of a winner copy. Just keep it to the point. Out of normal facebook background.

Except the campaign name and the target, I will show you everything, dont worry

How many adcopies you have tried ? All I can say is, test atleast 10 copies with 2 variations of text each. Uploading just 1 adcopy, you are bound to fail.

I've had plenty of success in the past, and thanks, I upload enough copy - good copy. I've been in the game over a year, and it's been a rough month for me at casa del Facebook, so I guess maybe I am frustrated. At any rate, I'll look forward to your screenshots Harris.
