Veeeeery strange conversion pattern on 7search

Hi everyone,

So I'm running an email submit on 7search, and I have a strange pattern emerging. I get like 40 clicks, and nothing happens. Then, BAM! I get 4 conversions within 5 clicks! Then it goes back to a long series of clicks with no conversions....

This has happened about 5 times now and for the most part it sticks to this pattern. It's not a dayparting issue, because the bursts happen at all different hours. 8AM, 2PM, 10AM, 8PM etc...

It doesn't sound like scrubbing because the bursts of conversions are so tightly grouped... Not even 7search has that good of traffic

If this makes sense to anyone, please give some feedback.

Nothing strange in this. I suppose you're not tracking your campaigns.
Without tracking (specially for 7search), you're going to lose.

You can use Prosper202 it's a free open source tracking script or even use the keywords and subids tracking directly in the network reports ###KEYWORD###-###AFFID###-###RID###

These tracking subids enable you to block any bad or fraud traffic partners which are sending bad traffic which is responsible in the first place for the offer lower conversion rate.

For example if you tracked the first 40 clicks domain name referrers (in prosper202) you're going to see that most of these websites are dummy or expired domain names or stupid parked domain names which are definitely harmful for your campaign and useless in the conversion process.

So, you should monitor your referrers and block them within your account every few hours (not after 24 hrs). If this feature is not activated in your account, then you can ask the customer support to activate it.

7search or generally search PPC is not set and forget campaigns model. It needs extra work with keyword tracking and optimizing the campaigns unlike any other source independent of keywords in targeting methods.

Thanks but I do have Prosper 202 set up and I'm tracking everything as you described. That how I know about this odd pattern of conversions

I have other campaigns running on 7 search that show a more normal conversion pattern: 7 clicks, $$$, 4 clicks, $$$, 11 clicks, $$$, 14 clicks, $$$, etc.

      This is what I'm seeing in this campaign: 43 clicks, $$$, $$$, click, $$$, click, $$$, 56 clicks, $$$, click, $$$, $$$, $$$, 39 clicks, etc.

Now saying that, this IS the only 7search campaign I have running with this network (the only one with volume anyway.)

      So....

    Hey MTVida,

If you are bidding on phrase or broad match then make sure to study the searches and start adding negative keywords to your keywords. If you are bidding on exact match then you should focus on traffic sources and start blocking some domains that sending crappy traffic.

Every campaign start this way and after some optimizing the result gets better and better.

So if i have been bidding on Exact match for a few keywords and identified some bad traffic sources and blocked them, should i go Broad now? or stick to Exact?

Yeah, I'm making sure to optimize, like you say. It's breaking even right now, but I'm letting it collect data so I can make it profit later on.

I guess it doesn't matter much what the pattern the conversions come in as long as I can make it profit

You are lucky to have conversion. I already lost $30 with only 1 conversion on 7search. I really need someone to guide me with CPA.
