I have tried my best to explain

They have a lot of overlap between the two. CPA means cost per action but technically getting a lead and getting paid for it could be the action too. Which overlaps with pay per lead.



I would say CPA is the macro level description and under it you'd have PPS, (pay per sale) & PPL (pay per lead).

No CPA is is getting an email, a zipcode, fill a form AND get a sale like selling a t-shirt.
CPA is everything both sale and lead.

PPL is getting getting information such as email info, applying for a loan. The information IS a lead (a beginning) . As an affiliate you will get customers to submit information to a company (for example Allstate insurance). Once the you get a person to submit their information....the company (like Allstate, or Netflix) will take the information submitted and try to sell a product or service to that person. The person that submitted information is called a LEAD. LEAD is a sales term meaning that they may possibly be intrested in buying some product or service. This is why companies can pay you for only getting someone to fill out a form. Because they know if 50 people fill out a form maybe 10 of them will buy more services. They pay you 1-10 dollars per lead because the company know they can make hundreds or thousands later depending on the product or service.
