Am I the only who was shocked about Max bounty

OK, let me start by saying I am a newbie. I read a couple posts here on the forum and thought, hey let's sign up for Max Bounty. I registered and received the email about having to call. Red Flag went up there because I am already a member with Google Affiliates, LInkshare, CJ, etc.

She says I am approved and has an offer. Great. Then she says, You have to buy the product first.

Huh? Is this how all CPA work? You have to buy it to advertise it?

I like MaxBounty. I've never had to buy anything, or even been approached about buying anything.

The phone call part is pretty normal though. They want to do a minimum amount of screening before opening an account for someone.

I can't say what happened in your case, but MaxBounty as a CPA marketing firm has been good to me. No problems at all.

That being said, there are many other good ones too...

        Best of luck

This sounds pretty fishy. Perhaps the MaxBounty rep will be along to address this. I know he floats around here sometimes.

MaxBounty is my primary source of income and they gave me my chance when my traffic was lower than it should have been. Without them I would not be where I am today. You must have signed up at a phishing site or be mistaken because they are a solid organization and I would vouch for them any day.

I think you've got it wrong. Maybe you try calling or emailing them. I've never heard of such thing. Even pure affiliate programs don't require buying before promoting. And to cap it MaxBounty is one of those site I first heard of in 2009. No bad news about them to my knowledge

    Hello accendo,

I believe you may have misunderstood the affiliate manager. She probably said you were approved to run the offer, but the *surfer* would have to buy the product that you advertise before you get credited in your MaxBounty account.

I can confirm this if you simply let me know what the offer was.

    Thank you.

I think the thread starter misunderstand it.

I think it is about the offer. The offer was a product that needs to be sold before he can get a commission. It is not about the network trying to sell him something before he can join.

I think that someone tried to scam you OP.

My best guess is that the "affiliate link" you joined MB was a MB-looking page that got your contact email and told all this to sell their own products.

I signed up for MB some time ago and all i can say is "they are great". They are always helpfull and kind whatever my question might be!
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[5922004].message }}
    • Profile picture of the author PPC-Coach
No I think the OP just didn't understand what their affiliate manager told them like Mae Rose said. The affiliate said that someone has to buy the product through their link for them to get a commission. But the OP took that has HE had to buy it to get his commissions.

Just a communication mess up. It would be tough to do a phishing scam like I thought originally too as they don't know if he's with MB or not.

Hi NXmarketeer. Thanks for the shoutout!

It wasn't someone trying to scam the OP, but just a misunderstanding. The campaign the OP was interested in requires the surfer to make a purchase in order for the affiliate to be paid the CPA.

Obviously the person meant "One has to buy it," not "You have to buy it."

Unfortunately many people use YOU incorrectly and interchange with ONE.
