Best way to promote own affiliate program?

Hi,

I'm in the process of creating my own affiliate program on my website. The program will pay good commissions, but the only issue I have is how to get the word out.

I know with 3rd party affiliate networks like cj, shareasale, etc...when you join as an advertiser at least there are a bunch of affiliates already signed up that can find your program. However, I won't have this luxury with having my own affiliate program.

Are there affiliate directorties where I would be able to list my program on to hopefully attract affiliates? What other methods or sites could I use to get the word out on my affiliate program?

    Depends on which niche your product is. Each niche has a forum where you can advertise. You can also use the Warrior Forum classifieds.

    This has already sort of been suggested, but what about connecting with other marketers in biz niches that are related to yours, having them mail for you, then offering a commission on every affiliate that signs up through their list? It would be like a two-tier thing.

    Through what program are you running your affiliate program?

    Recruit on forums like this one
    Attend tradeshows
    Contact webmasters of sites that rank one page 1 for any keywords relevant to your niche that could be a good fit
    Get yourself some exposure and reputation with case studies etc. that you can leverage into getting affiliates to replicate your techniques
    Contests can be effective if done right
    Be nice to / bribe the affiliate managers at the networks you work with
    Pay a referral bonus

    Not the easiest task in the world, but you only need a handful of good affiliates to do extremely well for yourself
