Music Gossip webiste, what is the best way to metize them?

I recently opened up 2 music website's. Basically music news/ sports news/gossip from around the world is posted on the sites on a daily basis.

Right now the traffic on one of them is about 106 visits while the other has about 60 visits on a daily basis, but they are only about a week old. My questions is which would be the best way to monetize the site's?

CPM,PPC???Not sure if other alternatives would be a good fit for these site's.

P.S. Traffic wise I've opened up Twitter accounts and face book pages for the sites. Still working on trying to get more traffic to the site's, but I figured that the more posts are added to the site the better rank google will give the sites.

I suggest you use quantcast.com to establish the demographics for your visitors and then select cpa offers based on this data.. You will need a lot more traffic than your current visitor numbers to really have a chance at making any money. Also test different offers, positions graphics..try a pop up.. basically you need to experiment..

I'll look into quantcast.com, as of right now I'm using statcounter to see how many page loads and uniques I'm getting traffic wise to both my sites.

I signed up with bidvertiser for one site but have not seen any clicks on the banner or at least that's what they are reporting. I also singed up with Infolinks on the same site and thus far I must say they were able to make me smile.

I just checked on my account and saw that I actually have $0.42 on my earnings. I saw the conversions and I know it will fluctuate o every click and every day, but what i found was pretty interesting.

On a set date I only had 51 net impressions and 4 clicks so I made .01 for that day. the following day I had 45 net impressions and 0 clicks so I did not make any money on the day after that it shows 58 net impressions and 5 clicks in which I made $0.32 cents my total is showing $0.42 so I dont know where the other $0.09 came from but I'm assuming it was from yesterday or today.

So far I'm guessing this is pretty good or perhaps I'm just excited to see that the website is making some money. They always say your first dollar is the best.

Now I need to see about replacing the Bidvertiser ads and maybe put some ads up that will pay on a CPM basis. That way I'll be making sure income with the adspace.

The funny thing about it is that the other music website that I have yet to monetize is getting more traffic than this one. I figured this might happen largely because there was not much competition for this genre of music but I know that it will grow within the next year or two.

Should I go with Google Adsense on the second website? I kind of want to work with two different companies that way I can see which works better and pays better.

    Any suggestions?

With that much traffic you wont be able to make good amount of money. Try to reach to at least 1000 - 3000 users per day by increasing your backlinks.

And one more thing; I know videos and music sites usually copy contents from other sites and one day that makes them fall far down. Avoid duplicate contents from very START.

For every post there are at least two backlinks. The backlinks go directly to the home page, should change that to inner pages on a couple of them?

Yea music sites tend to see a hot story on one site and work from it. I'm usually able to get fresh content on a daily basis and post news that no other music may have however when we do follow a story that is trending we dont copy anything form them. We get our own source and work from there making our content unique in the sense of which it is written.

Sometimes you cant help writing about the same story every other site is writing about because thats up to date news and what people want to read or rather that's breaking news that is trending.

Yea I was just surprised to have made some money with that amount of traffic. Ideally I want to first hit a goal of 1,000 visitors a day then step it up to 3,000 then work my way up to at 50,000 a day.

I know it wont happen over night but I just want to see progress on a daily basis. so far Alexa has been ranking better and better every day and we've been posting fresh content on a daily basis so I can only hope that this will help acquire my traffic goals, so I can start making more revenue.

Have you researched the demographics of your site? What about ringtones?

The ringtone market is dead. It was alive and well back when the ringtone subscription scams were still legal.

I agree with the above posts about researching demographics. You can never be too thorough with your analytics. Once you learn the right way to use the demographic information the sky is the limit.

I second the suggestion for ringtones, I think that's a great idea! You could also start posting reviews of some sort for music related paraphernalia or CDs related to the genre you're going after. I wish you luck, sounds like you're off to a great start!

@ChrisBa-I just checked where most of my traffic is coming from using Statcounter(not too sure if this is the best tool to do that) and on one site 95% of my traffic is coming from the USA and on the second site 86% of my traffic is from the USA.

Is there a different program that I should be using for the demographics or is the StatCounter good for the job?

As far as ringtones would I go through Amazon to set that up or is it a different company that does ringtones?

@mec64-On the reviews I have two lined up already that are tech and music related. Do you think I should start charging for reviews from here on?
