I plan to use some CPS programs via ad networks. I'd like to know what happens when we get a refund... for a product?

I mean, Suppose I'm using affiliatevia or maybe some other good ad network... and a customer clicks on the ad, and buys something. After sometime, he asks for a refund. What happens to the revenue sharing thing between the advertiser and the ad network? Despite of a sale, do we still have to pay to the ad network? or can the ad network track if there was a refund as well...
