CPA direct linking question.......

11 replies
When an advertiser says that direct linking isn't allowed by stating the following:
Search Campaigns - Direct Linking
Are publishers allowed to link directly to my Web site from search marketing campaigns?
does this mean if the advertisers offer's text link was placed in the description part of a YouTube video, is this considered direct linking?
and I'm not talking about URL shortening or redirecting.

    Well in the end you are putting the direct link to the offer are you not? You can always make a quick LP or iframe the offer. Cheers

      ----- yes you are correct about putting the direct link to the offer but you do that with a landing page as well. My thought about direct linking was those who place a direct link within a PPC ad or organic search listing.

    If someone clicks on your link and goes to your offer right away, that's direct linking

      Thanks for the info. Excuse my being so technical but my mechanical / analytical background drives me nuts sometimes. I get what your saying but here's a scenario:

      An affiliate has both a landing page and a YouTube video ranked in Google organic search for a keyword "how to boil eggs". A visitor clicks on the organic text listing and lands on my landing page and then clicks thru to my offer. This isn't considered direct linking.

      Now the same visitor clicks on the YouTube video thumbnail that is ranked in Google organic and lands on my video that is hosted on YouTube. He then clicks on the link in the description which sends him to my offer. Why is this considered direct linking? In both scenarios, the visitor didn't go directly to the offer when clicking the the organic listings.

        I would go from the YT -> LP -> offer.
        or YT->LP/iframe(if allowed)

        just to cover your ass.

    Paid traffic (text ad and link) - someone clicks your ad link - offer - that is direct linking

    A landing page is ideal but make sure it is highly optimized by having banners and text links so the surfer doesn't miss them. Best to follow the instructions from these CPA companies.
