Hey Guys,

I'm bored tonight so I'm going to sip on a glass of whisky and hangout on the warrior forum and have a discussion.

If you had one question that you've been dying for answer on the subject of Media Buying what would it be?

What is the minimum budget for getting started in media buys and still have decent results?

You can start as small as $25.00 but from experience that will float with your testing so I would say $50.00

Where would you start with media buying - assuming a low starting budget like the $50 just mentioned?

I'd also like to know where people would start with only $50.. normally i find it takes at least 10x that..

The answer to the above is your account would be wiped clean
Maybe if you got lucky, but in my own experience I would not expect a return, maybe 1 conversion per 100 clicks on a direct offer like that.

Those 100 clicks, unless you can get 5-7% CTR on your banner ad are going to cost you well more then your conversion ($1-1.70 submit).

To start I would play with POF ($25 minimum), as it's really nice to target your individuals, just keep in mind it doesn't have to be dating related just because the site is about dating.

I've done well with Home & Family offers on POF targeting groups of 30-50 with kids and income... just as an example.

If you just want to learn the process, lingo, and a little about CPM bidding. You can try Project Wonderful makes advertising awesome! , I wouldn't to expect to see any conversions, but you can just LEARN everything for $10, the minimum is real low.

The first thing in Media Buying is:

You need to decide what type of Media Buyer you want to be. For example, I personally like to focus on traffic sources versus looking at the offer.

Also you need to decide what the definition of offer is going to be. This could be a CPA offer, your own banner ad for a product, could be just an ad to a review Amazon site, or it could just be for a facebook fan page to help it go viral. Really it's what you want to the public to see.

So... I look at my traffic sources first, try to find something that falls into a criteria for a good website to advertise with. I focus on converting that traffic source into money with ads. I'll try a variety of niches, ads, etc

I'll find a winner, and then convert the traffic source into a consistent pay day. Then move on to the next traffic source

      ------------------------------------------------

On the other hand. If you want to look at an offer first. Maybe it is a CPA offer or your own product. Then search out a traffic source that will work with your offer. In this form you are creating consistent pay days with specific offers.

I would suggest beginners focus on this way of doing things.

Really stick with an offer. What you need to realize is that 98% of the time your first campaign will not make money. The successful media buyers will test every angle. It is the 2% of us that keep with the offer, trying different banner ads to create a higher CTR and then trying landers versus direct linking versus autoresponder funnel versus some other form of converting traffic into sales/leads.
