Monetizing Mobile Apps

I am getting ready to publish SEVERAL mobile apps. They are primarily related to guy things... stuff like outdoor grilling, cigars and sports.

The apps will be free to download and I was originally going to go with Admob for monetizing (as well as paid to Push offers). Any other recommendations on how to better monetize these apps? Any CPA networks specializing in Mobile offers?

    I would not recommend Admob, you can receive hundreds of thousands of impressions and a decent amount of clicks and it will still result in 'small-to-decent' profits, on the rare occasion that Admob's fill rate enabled a 'mobile-adsense' to be displayed instead, this click will be worth considerably more but it is a rare occurrence.

    Also note, using Adsense or Mobile Adsense with app traffic can ban your account so be careful, I know you didn't ask about this as a solution so you probably knew better.

    Some other solutions,

    Leadbolt (now has mobile cpa offers), Sponsormob, Offermobi,

    Some Clickbank items are now fully-mobilized, it is hard to turn these viewers into buyers, but if your app is as useful as a popular magazine (if you get my drift) you can really work your magic.

    A friend of mine is using leadbolt to monetize his mobile apps and having pretty good results. Maybe you can give it try. Good luck

      Just a quick update. Admob has been treating me pretty well. I have 15 apps published and and now earning about $12 / day average but the 7 day trend is closer to $15 per day.

      My goal was to earn about $1 / day per app, so I am quickly getting there. I am currently getting about 15K Admob impressions per day, so pretty decent return. I tried using JumpTap, Adfonic and a few others (through Admob Mediation) without much success. My eCPM for them ran around .20 where I am averaging about .80 on Admob. My Admob account has been upgraded to allow Adsense ads to be substituted so that may be helping my eCPM.

      I will definitely check out Leadbolt and see what kind of mobile offers they have. I have just recently started using a MaxBounty address submit banner on one of my app tabs (mobile page iframed in) and am getting 1 submit per day.

      Also looking for CPA offers that are 'Push Notification' friendly. It seems currently my AM's with a few networks have not yet determined where Push Notifications fit in with approved traffic sources.

    Congrats on your success!! You must have found some good niches and of course made some nice Apps.

    I too would be interested how CPA networks regard push notifications.

    The best way I've seen to make money with apps is in app upgrades. Not sure if this is applicable to your app or not? But it does work great, people are so quick to the tap the "Buy" button.

      At the moment I have a MaxBounty and Peerfly account and my AM's are looking into how to consider Push Notifications.

      I have a LeadBolt account but have not been able to figure out where to find offers that are NOT content locking.

      As with several thousand others, awaiting approval into EWA since many people have said that Ryan has a large amount of mobile offers.

      I am averaging 1 address submit per day on a banner that is embedded in a page iframed into some tabs on my apps.

      I sent my first PN to the whole lot of my apps and out of 9K active installs at the time, I had about 5400 visits to the site with 2 conversions. I think the right CPA offer could do pretty well with PN's.
