Need urgent help regarding promoting affiliate links,...

I've bee in CPA marketing for months, but still confused about promoting offers,..

when i scroll on offers on a cpa network like Affillion, and get an offer i want to promote, there's a link saying preview offer, is that my affiliate link i should start promoting?
Sometimes when i click on the link, it takes me to a landing page of the offer.
So, what is confusing me, is, do i add my affilliate code at the end of my link? after the '=' signs or its not necessary?

Another thing, what are sub id's and placing a pixel on an offer mean?
Do u have to put them on your affiliate link to get paid?

Thanks fellow warriors..

There should be a section on the offer details page that allows you to simply "cut and paste" your affiliate link or generate it.

For example, on maxbounty, there's a section that reads "creatives". In that section, one selects their "creative" type and then click the "get tracking code" link in order to generate the affiliate link.

A "SUB ID" is a mechanism that allows you to track your keywords or other traceable elements of your marketing. It's similar to a "key code" that's used in direct marketing to track ad copy, mailing lists, or whatever. The main purpose is to allow you to ultimately track your conversions.

Thus, a normal affiliate link might look like this:
    Code:
    http://www.mb01.com/lnk.asp?o=123&c=444441&a=55555
A traceable one using a sub id might look like this:
    Code:
    http://www.mb01.com/lnk.asp?o=123&c=444441&a=55555&s1=ANY_KEYWORD
The "s1" is the subid variable name. Other networks may just use "subid" but Maxbounty uses "s1".

The "ANY_KEYWORD" can be any keyword.

Pixels are another mechanism used to track your conversions. These are typically just a 1-pixel wide by 1-pixel high image graphic. So every time a defined action occurs -- usually a conversion -- your pixel fires (or is triggered).

Hope that clears things up a bit.

No ,you should not use the offer preview link,it is not a tracking link. The purpose of preview link is you can view the offer landing page irrespective of the geo /IP location.

exactly what others have said. the preview link is just a link sending you to the landing page so you can, exactly as the name says, preview the offer! there should be a section for each offer called "creatives" or something along these lines,

Each network will provide the preview link of the offer (just the landing page) so you can view what the offer looks like before promoting. This preview link is not your affiliate tracking link. In the system you should be able to generate or see your own tracking link.

Subid's allow you to pass variables to the network or advertiser. They are mostly used for testing / tracking purposes - you could pass basically anything you want. So lets say you have a CPV campaign going; you may want to find out what keyword / url generated you a conversion. Well by passing some kind of tracking identification through the subid, you can pinpoint data in order to test properly. For affiliate networks; we pass affiliate's ID numbers through the sub id to track which affiliate generated the conversion.

Pixels go along with tracking as well. Depending on what your using for tracking already, pixels are a short line of code that is implemented on the page where the conversion happens. If you had a pixel, once a conversion has happened, then that pixel is "fired" and you would see it on your end with your tracking system. Its not necessarily needed but it is handy. Your traffic source that you use may already have a pixel that you can use. Most all tracking software's will contain a pixel for you to use as well.

    Hope this helps!

Does a pixel fire only when a conversion happens? What happens if there is a click but no conversion?
