CJ question: what is SID?

I'm getting into this kinda late and I'm not really sure if my question is an affiliate question or a CPA network question, but here goes.

I wanna sell a product and it happens to be on CJ

I signed up, got approved, figured out what a smart zone was, got the 2 websites that are going to offer said product and when I went to 'get links'

I see this SID stuff with no apparent explanation save this paragraph:

Add SID to a Commission Junction CoreMetrics Link
Standard CoreMetrics publisher links (as shown in the example above) need to add the SID parameter to properly track in the Commission Junction system. You must add the SID parameter (SID=)before the CoreMetrics parameters for all CoreMetrics links.

===

my question is... is it gonna hurt if I just skip this part?

is this a tracking url thing? (I'm asking that cause I see the 'metrics' part of that paragraph

Don't see too much in the way of help on CJ

any answers gang?
thanks

    I don't use CJ., but I'm guessing it's simply a tag you can use to track where your sending traffic from.

    For example SID=yahoo

    Don't quote me, just guessing on this one.

    SID stands for sub id. It just lets you add extra info on to your link so you can track where your traffic is coming form.

    I've never heard of cj or any other merchant requiring that you use it, but it might be best to ask your am.

    George is correct, it is a tracking mechanism for you to see where your traffic is coming from. Just like adding the extra tag to your Clickbank hoplink.
