Are these CPA offers Scams?

Hey guys,

Forgive my ignorance here but I am new to CPA. I was just accepted to my first CPA network and I was full of excitment about getting started promoting an offer. So I start looking at the offers and they all seem "scammy" to me. I mean Get A FREE IPhone, Get a FREE IPad, Xbox, $1,500 gift card..Etc.. These are the types of pages I avoid when surfing the web.

I want to promote something and feel good about it...Is that possible with CPA?

Hi - I've promoted a few CPA offers with some success and my view is that with CPA's you need to find the right offers that resonate with you and that you believe will be of real help to people - There are enough CPA networks out there (some say to many) that meet the exact needs of people searching for certain offers.

My rationale is that if you are promoting a dating site (for example) and someone signs up for it under you link - I think its quite clear that the prospect knows what they are doing and thus I don't really view that as scamming, people have the right to choose or not (opt out) as the case may be.

I would stick with it a bit more - look around for good ethical offers and give CPA a bash - you may come to like it and the rewards it brings :-)
Best wishes with whatever you decide

Yeah it's possible but competition is super high and you have to fight against those scammers

another new to CPA here - I found some videos on creating fanpages for offers. Do you consider that spammy on facebook or not really because you will advertise to people that are interested on that offer? If not this way, can you give tips on how else to advertise the offers/campaigns without it being spammy?

You need to find a vertical that you want to promote. Then look for the offers in that vertical that appeal to you and your marketing methods.

Hey Khemba ...thanks for the post. You make a good point I have been looking through these offers and I found a few offers for things that my wife actually uses on a daily basis and recommends to her friends...so I can feel good about promoting something like that. Thanks for the advice I'm going to keep at it.

I am not afraid to work a little harder if I can push something I feel good about.

I dont think creating a fan page to promote CPA offers is to spammy...my worries were that the CPA offers themselves were a little spammy.

Eutaw, I did just that I went through each verticle until I found a few offers that appeal to me. I guess it was just information overload in the beginning.

There are various types of offers if free email submit offers look spammy you can go to a site called offervault.com and browse through thousands of offers and pick one you like. You can then check which networks are promoting the offer and apply to those networks.

All the Free iPhone and Free Gift card things are going to be email or pin submits. They aren't right out scams, at least not to the consumer, but they are going to get absolutely BOMBED with spam after they fill them out - and to get the "Free Gift" or "Free Prize" they have to complete several offers on the backend. That's why they all have *Participation Required on the landing page.

Most of them have HUGE scrub rates though and up to 90% of your leads won't even get reported - so in terms of YOUR experience trying to promote them? Yes they are scams lol.

If you want to give users a "good experience", you will need to be very selective in the offers you promote. That means generally stay away from email/pin submits, ringtones, grants, credit repair, bizopp, and dating offers unless they are from big brands like eHarmony.

If you build out your own email submit offers it can actually be pretty profitable, but you'll either need to use co-reg or build your own incent backend. I have done both and it works pretty well, plus you actually capture the email address and can mail them related offers.

Seem's like you integrity and a conscience. Those are good things to have and it's funny I came accross your post because was feeling the same way tonight when planning a CPA campaign with multiple offers.

I think I'd rather stick to building lists and promote legit Cost per Sale products for commission. Some of the insurance and financial CPA's may be legit but I'm not sure about the free offer email submits have me on the fence.

It's looks like the networks are really cutting down on methods used to promote them that are deceiving in themselves, and the words used. You can't use any words like prize, win, claim, gift, giveaway and others and free can only be use with "details apply" in the same sentence.

If some of you have been promoting "free" offers like ipads, GC's and such, make sure look at the offer terms for your aff networks. My main 3 CPA networks that are top networks, are all over these offers with warnings that I mentioned above recently.

Seems to me that these rules would decrease CTR's and conversion rates too. I know this would actually, because these are the same words used in copy some of the guys I know are doing extremely well with email submits.

It's actually fraudulent/deceptive on how they make things look and that's what the networks are trying to shutdown. They are clear as well that if people are caught they won't get paid.

Yes it is possible. If you are not interested in the typical email zip submits, then why not try some straight lead gen within insurance, cash advance, or even debt. Many networks also have CPS offers that you can promote; some of these include As Seen On TV products, etc. Just look into the network some more. Almost every network has a mix of both of the offers you don't like with the ones that you are interested in. You just need to find the right ones that fit you but CPA networks can definitely offer this to you.

These are low-payout offers. They are much easier to promote than the higher-payout offers and can be good for beginners, but in my opinion the real money is in the offers with much higher payout.
