If you are selling your own product or collecting your own leads Google Adwords in my opinion.

    Affiliate stuff...Facebook, or Adcenter.

You can pretty much go with Adwords or AdCenter for PPC. FB does have a PPC model, but it's not like Adwords or AdCenter as it more akin to a display network (a significant difference).

Adwords to me is expensive, but Ad center doesn't have the traffic of the former. Both have their pros I guess.

It really depends on what you want to promote, ultimately I believe Google is probably the highest quality traffic, but you have to jump through many hoops to get campaigns going properly - if you are just starting out, perhaps try Bing or Facebook

If it's your own business, go with Google Adwords. If it's not go with MSN Adcenter or Facebook Ads or 7search or Looksmart or Findology or Ezanga or any of those smaller ppc platforms.

Well sounds like your very new. How bout starting to do cpm first. Go to plenty of fish and put an ad there. I have some great success with POF, your ads are charged at how many impressions you have and it can be very cheap. Plus you can really set a target audience to see those ads.

I say this because without a lot of experience, PPC can be quite expensive to tweak. Cpm is like ppc but not on steroids so you can tweak your ads and target it more appropriately.

Try Adwords content network if you find your keywords to be too expensive for the search network. If you're looking to promote affiliate products mostly, then using Adwords might be a disappointing experience - go with Adcenter or Facebook or POF (this one is CPM but works just as well).

As a direct response medium search is something you should test, optimize & repeat rather than assume.

AdWords offers the most direct intent traffic.
Facebook the most potential total eyeballs [far less DR focused].
Bing another, and often undeserved, DR channel.

There are many other networks as well comprised of search sites, content sites and the likes.
