Income from Affiliate/CPA networks - UK tax system?

Hey guys,

I'm receiving all my payments from Affiliate/CPA networks by PayPal (most of the times) and 2-3 payments per month comes to my bank account ( not a big ones, $500 - $1000 )

I received a letter from HMRC, that they want to talk about my PayPal(That's gonna be only my affiliate/cpa income) income, how the hell they're have all that stuff? I have contacted PayPal and they're not provided any details to HMRC.

Here is what I want to find out - do you pay any taxes from your CPA income in England? My tax solicitor said there is no way they received that information from PayPal,because he contacted HMRC and they never filled any request to PayPal about me. So I'm starting worry, is it possible that HMRC received information from CPA networks?

P.S. I never told HMRC about my PayPal income. Who does right..

I hear you on this one. I'm not in the UK but I would think that HMRC must have access to the owners of paypal accounts and their addresses or emails perhaps.

I very much doubt they could have access to your earnings but the tax solicitor should be able to confirm that.

Otherwise, if you just declare it all then there's no stress and you can sleep easy at night.

Well but if HMRC do have access to paypal accounts .. It can't be right, because they will be 3rd party, and 3rd parties can't access to my account details. + They confirmed they haven't requested anything from Paypal for my name. Well, will see what they gonna tell but its kinda sad that tax agents are looking for me like thief.

Have you registered as self employed with the HMRC yet?

Is it possible the HMRC could have found that out from your bank because the bank transactions list Paypal as the transaction type. Do you mean that you get direct payments to your bank or do you transfer your Paypal payments to your bank?

Paypal let the HMRC know how much has gone through your account - I contacted them before and they told me that it was a legal requirment for them to run their business.

Yes, I am. Most of the time my CPA payments come to PayPal. But from time to time I request some bank withdrawal. ( + Amazon affiliate paying me by bank transfer ) I am doing withdrawals from PayPal to bank too. Like 1-2 per month. But not big ones, like 1000-2500gbp~.

Well PayPal told me that they haven't shared any information about my accounts to 3rd parties.
