What Ad Networks Are Great For Someone Starting Out?

Hi, I'm interested in advertising using ad networks, however, there are just so many types of ad networks that I'm completely lost. There's ppc, ppv, cpa, and so many networks, that I can't figure out how to start. (And even inside ppc, there's the first-tier, second-tier, etc... and so many different ad networks...

I need guidance in two scenarios.

Scenario #1: I do not have a product, but wish to do affiliate marketing. What would be the best kind of traffic source that I should use and scale up after testing, etc?

Scenario #2: I have my own product, and wish to drive traffic to it for big conversions. What would be the best kind of traffic source that I can easily use to scale up?

Some examples of the ad networks themselves would be really great.

I think you are staring on the wrong foot.

    Here is a little guide.

First decide whether you want to buy traffic or generate it for free ?

    1) if you want to buy traffic then PPC,PPV
    2) if you want to depend on the free traffic then SEO ( search engine ranking etc)

Once you have decided on the traffic then the next thing is what you want to promote ?

    There are multiple options
    1) Physical products ( Commission junction is the network for this)
    2) Digital products as an affiliate ( clickbank is the major one for this)
    3) CPA ( there are lot of networks for this, neverblue, hydra, azoogle, peerfly, cpalead, clicxbooth . You can start with any of them).

You can do this exercise backwards also. First decide on what you want to promote then decide how you want to get traffic. This is only the beginning.

Hi, that answered the affiliate part of the question I guess... I was just wondering that as a product owner, what would be an ideal source of traffic?
