Classified ads - Pay day loan offers, or iPhone 5 offer, what do you think? (OFFLINE)

Now, I will be testing them both anyway, but thought I would ask all of your opionins anyway.

I'm not talking about Craiglist or anything like that, I'm talking about newspaper ads. No one even try tell me that people don't read newspapers, they do; I worked part-time in a newspaper printing factory a couple of years ago and the sheer volume of papers never changed...

... Anyway, that brings me to this - Seeing as I worked in the newspaper factory before I have struck a great deal with the sales team that I can get a 20 word ad in the classified ads section for $275.

It will be going in 1'200'000 newspapers and seeing as it is so cheap, I'll be running both of the offers anyway..

What do you think will convert better:1) the pay day loan ad ($95 per sign-up) or the iPhone 5 offer ($2.75 per lead)

Now, I'm not really sure what to think, seeing as its getting close to christmas the loan may actually convert pretty well - and as far as the iphone 5 offer, I reckon as it's one of those "test and keep" things, it could convert pretty well.

Excited to get this going.

If you could only run one, what one would you choose and why?

Gooooooooood luck with ads in regular newspaper classifieds. It's true that they do work for some services still. But compaired to the good old days when they worked for most businesses on the average traditional newspaper ads do NOT work.

People still read the classified section of the newspaper? Hell, people still read newspapers?

I'd opt them into a list so at least you can retain them.

if you spent $275 on an ad on the newspaper, You should try bandit signs in high traffic areas. You might get a better response...

Good luck and keep us posted! We've tested some old school strategies recently and most do work out pretty well for us. Direct mail, side of the road signs, fliers, even billboards. Never stop experimenting!

I'd pick the payday loan because the younger more tech savvy
people who would be attracted to the iphone tend to read newspapers less than
    those who get money loans.

Totally forgot I had posted this.. But I went ahead with it.

I broke even pretty much with the pay-day loan ad.. Tried it twice and similar results both times. So, I figured I'd give up.

Don't have the time or funding at the moment to be testing something that my mind is telling me wont convert!

If you're breaking even you are probably only one LP tweak or one new offer in your rotation away from making money.

If you don't have the funds save your money, but definitely consider coming back to it in the near future.
