Testing campaigns on FB and PoF

Hey,

I have a question regarding testing campaigns on FB and PoF!

Let's say I pick a dating offer and want to promote it on both websites- How exactly should I test?
How many different images? How many different age groups, angles etc.? Could you please tell me exactly how you usually do it?

Thanks.

I do know that, thanks But I'd like to know what's the most important part in testing. My budget is def not huge, so I'd like to test the most important things. Images? How many? Age groups? Etc.?

Honestly these days I wouldn't do dating on fb, I would only do it on pof. Any idea on what type of dating offers you want to promote?

Why wouldn't you promote dating offers on FB?
My affiliate managers sent me some gaming/dating offers which worked best on FB. I was thinking to promote a general dating site using angles like dog lovers or so. On PoF I was planning to maybe promote more targeted offers like senior people or big women..

It's up to you on how many images you want to test. You can test two at a time, three at a time; or five at a time. Just depends what you feel like doing.

If you test two you can pick the best one to test against another and so on.

For age groups again it depends on what age groups you want to test.

What age group is your DEMO? This should tell you what age group you should be targeting.

Angles only you can come up with those, because no one will tell you a specific angle they are targeting that is working.

If you're just started out I wouldn't go with FB. That's just my opinion.

You need to come up with angles people aren't using right now.

From my recent testing on Facebook I used 10 images and found 2 winners (Above a 0.1 CTR). I tested some images with and without borders and I can tell you that the winners were the images with a border. With the age groups I like to target a 5 year age range for each campaign (20-24, 25-29 etc..) Also, I always test my initial ads with CPC and find which are performing the strongest and kill the ads that are the weakest until I find my winners. You could also test different ad copy once you find your winning images. Another route you could go is setting up a fan page and directing your traffic through there, Set up a Static iFrame and have them like your page and once they become your fan they will see whatever offer your promoting. You can get Facebook to convert but you have to do alot of testing with it. What worked for me may or may not work for you and that is the unfortunate truth.

Hope that helps somewhat and good luck with your Facebook journey.

hey wesley, after you've found a winner with above 0.1 CTR, how do you keep it stable...cause the thing that happens to me is the CTR starts dropping down after i get my winner...

        Hi Slowpoison,

Unfortunately, There isn't anything you can really do on Facebook because that tends to happen a lot for some reason. What you could do though is try and take that winning ad & image and target a different age group or possibly find a similar interest that you had on your original ad and target that.

I think everybody has that issue with Facebook ads though

I would start with POF for starters then move onto Facebook.

I find it easier to scale up from POF to Facebook via vise versa.
