Does Anyone Use AdWords Anymore?

Hi Warriors,

I know that a couple years back there was a lot of AdWords advertisers who's accounts were closed down overnight in the online marketing community.

I'm just curious if anyone uses AdWords anymore for lead generation (online or offline), or if Google only wants people to link to home pages etc with no sign-up forms etc?

Haven't looked at AdWords in some time, and want to spend a little more money back in paid advertising and am curious what's people think about AdWords these days. Is Microsoft's platform a good alternative? What are some of the other popular alternative (besides Facebook & POF) ad platforms that people use?

Thank you in advance,

Randall

  • The Bing platform is a good alternative from what I've heard. Honestly, Adwords is pretty expensive now-a-days so you have to either be really good at PPC or have a massive experimenting budget to get started.

Adwords does allow you to link to a squeeze page but they don't allow direct linking to affiliate offers. If you want to run a CPA campaign with Adwords it should be approved.

Hopefully someone has a little more experience with this as I have never ran a CPA campaign through adwords.

    • I share the same questions as the OP.

I've heard that in order to link to landing page it cannot be a single page site, you have to add contact page, about us, privacy etc. Is this true?
  • Yes, Adwords bann nearly all affiliate, and affiliate related sites.

They have scanners and check manually.

If you are a newbie, I would recommend staying away.

    • lol wtf??? No they haven't. I have tons of affiliate stuff running on AdWords. The issue is that affiliates don't stop to think how to work with a traffic source, and they end up getting banned.

  • People are still using adwords, there are just new ways of doing it.. you can't just direct link or have a simple low quality landing page anymore.. you practically need a fully optimized seo site with tons of pages and content..

  • It can easily be done if you are more experienced. I would recommend starting out with 7 search or bing. They are much easier to get going and less risk because of the amount spent (cpc). Just watch on 7 search with cutting subids that aren't converting. Remember to go across the niche with your keyword research. Not just pick one word like dog training and go deep on that. That's where most people make huge mistakes.

I'm currently running a diet campaign on adwords and getting $42 per sale profit at .15 per click. Adwords works. You just need a little more experience with it and to play by the rules.

    • hi thanks for the input. There is no doubt that AdWords works since they offer the best traffic and high search volumes. I'm through with 7search and planning to move on to AdWords myself soon too but im afraid of getting banned due to the strict regulations.

Would you care to elaborate a bit on some ground rules of AdWords for affiliates?

      1. Landing page has to be like a normal seo-ed site
      2. ?

  • They require things like a privacy policy, TOS, Contact, etc.
Exit popups are also not allowed.

You CAN use affiliate links through a tracking platform. Their policy states that the display link must only match the final landing page.

  • yeha adwords is still alive and well, they are just being played by the big players, which is what google really wants. Adwords does cost more, but the traffic is from google, frekin converts the best people.
  • No. I gave up Adwords from my very first campaign. Just a waste of money.
