I am new to media buys am learning my way around, by buying some PPC text links on Pulse360 and have a couple of questions. I wanted to learn the system with text before moving to display.

Why would the number of clicks per Pulse360 be nearly twice (not a great volume) than my tracking script? My tracking and the numbers from the CPA sites are similar. My lander loads in less than 1 sec. so I know that is not the issue.

I understand test, split test, etc, so I know that is what your going to tell me In general do you need a landing page or can you direct link on media buys? I have done PPV for years a pretty much always used a lander.

I figure there is no better way to learn it than to try it. Thanks for your help.

There might be variations but nearly twice sounds odd. I never had issues like that. I suggest to ask somebody at Pulse 360 to look into it.

Whether you need a landing page or not depends on the campaign. Some advertisers do not allow direct linking at all.

Most of the time you will find that a landing page increases the conversion rate. You can build a lander that matches your ad and your traffic source. When the person then goes to the advertisers page they are already pre-sold and convert much better.

First of all, let me tell you that P360 may be not the best platform for a beginner. It's not cheap and running offers there can be a bit complicated.

Regarding the discrepancy between the clicks recorded by the tracking script and the ones recorded by P360, there are a few possibilities. The first one is that the page is taking too long to load and people are closing the window. If it's happening, P360 will count the clicks, but the script may not. The second possibility is that your tracking solution is recording only unique clicks, and the placements you chose are sending you a lot of duplicate clicks. There is also a chance that the network isn't recording all the clicks (in case you're using the network itself to track the ads) and, in this case, you should contact your AM.

About landing pages, you can direct link with media buys, but P360 is a bit more complicated, so it may be good to use a lander. However, it all depends on your campaign (offer, niche, country, placements, etc), so it's tough to give any advice.
