Facebook Ads - Testing Images - Traffic BlackBook Method

Hello,

In Traffic Blackbook it taught something like this for testing images (not trying to give away any content):

Want to test X number of images, then:

- Have X number of campaigns
- with Z number of identical ads with same image per campaign (to do with ad sticking)

Why dont I just have one ad per campaign?

Thanks for any help

To best way to test images is indeed, having 1 image/campaign since this way will give you equal traffic on your ads. However, I don't get it why you should have more identical images/campaign (identical means same image/text), it doesn't have any sense for me right now. Although, I never tried this approach but I don't think that results will differ so much to worth the extra money.

When we do tweak testing on CrazyCTR we use the 1 image/campaign approach and works pretty well.

    Hi thanks for your reply.

So you just put one ad per campaign?

If you were testing different headlines for example, would you use one headline per campaign? Or is this method just for images?

    Thanks crysper

It's something to do with the way Facebook produces impressions for your ads.

Facebook essentially bursts your impressions, so if one ad had a good CTR then that ad would get most of the impressions going forward.

So therefore, by having 4 ads with the same copy and image x 4 within 1 FB ad group more ads get a chance to be shown.

Someone else may have a clearer explanation but I know I am on the right lines.

Thanks Jayden yeah you are def on the right lines and I get what you are saying.

It just seems, it is more logical to simply have one ad per campaign, then FB cannot stuff it up with its flawed impression scheme since FB can only choose from one ad. Do you know what I mean?

      Thank you

It's because different campaigns may have a different performance. So, they tell you test the same ad with different campaigns because you may eventually get one of them to produce a high CTR.

The CTR of the entire campaign may affect the quality of the impressions your ads get, so even though the ads are the same, they still can perform differently. However, IMO, the most important thing is that you test different images and also a few different ad copies, even if you do it with just one campaign.

Test multiple ads, find a pattern for the good performing ads and then create all of your ads according to that pattern for maximum performance.
