Frustrated Newbie...help please

Hi,

After reading a lot in these forums I decided to jump into the affiliate world, however after one month I am having 0 results...or to be more precise minuses because none of the advertising is converting. I will summarize the steps I did...please tell me where I could be making errors...

1. Selected 6 different offers from clickbank, from medium to high gravity. 3 from forex systems and 3 from weight loss programs. Analyzed them too in cb-analytics, all seems to be going strong and converting good for affiliates.

2. Purchased a domain and installed proaffiliatethemes. I built two landing pages, one for the forex, another for the weight loss programs. Both in review stye format so I can little describe the programs and place the affiliate links when the visitors arrive

3. Purchased CPC from 7search and Bing. I did PPC in the past so I am kind of familiar with targeting the words, phrases, the avg CPC I was getting was 0.10 to 0.20 using 400 targetted keywords for both pages (forex and weight loss)

4. ALso purchased traffic from sitescout using banners for the different clickbank offiers. Here despite targeting specific theme related websites the CPC is high, 0.40 to 0.60 ...I guess the banners are not very good with the CTR. Some banners were vendor provided, others I designed.

After one month the result is 803 visitors for the 3 programs and 0 conversions. I was expecting low conversion like every 200 o 300 visitors 1...but really after 800 and 0 conversions I must be doing something wrong

Attached the stats from clickbank.

I was also looking at the other networks who offer affiliate programs...but I read that clickbank is usually easy to get started with, at this point I dont know

Any help or input will be highly appreciated!

400 keywords is not too much?
I think you should choose the best keywords.
That's what I think, I'm not PRO, just think that it might be one of the reasons.

Clickbank is overrated in my opinion, and highly saturated. If you want some offers that convert better and pay much higher commissions, I would advise looking elsewhere. If you want help, or my suggestions, please contact me on skype. I don't want to give away all of the good info to the whole board . Hope to hear from you soon. I'm sorry that you haven't yet had success... That can definitely change quickly!

    Some advice:

    - Instead of ClickBank try CPA offers. They convert a lot better. Join some networks like PeerFly, MaxBounty, & NeverBlue.

    - Pick 1 ad networks and stick with it. You are jumping around way too much.

    - Pick 1 CPA niche, and stick with it. For example, Gift Cards, Dating, Gaming, ect.

    - Make sure you setup proper tracking. Check out Prosper202 it is free and great.

    - Spend 1.5x your offer's payout testing each keyword for conversions. So CPA offers with lower payouts are better when you are starting out because you can save money in testing.

My biggest advice after reading this is to stop jumping around so much, pick one niche and one traffic source and learn it well before moving on.

Also I'd work on getting into some affiliate networks to start, often CPA offers are easier to promote than clickbank offers

One thing I notice is that your fxsoft2012 offer seems to be pulling the most order form impressions.

I loaded the page and checked that it's not a forced order form impression, meaning that people actually clicked "add to cart" themselves. I'm not sure how much you're paying per hop though.

You also have similar results on your other forex product there. If I'm not mistaken you have 4 health offers and 2 forex offers and with the little data we have, both of the forex ones might seem to have more life than the health ones for you right now. You need to validate this against your landing page Click through rates.

So if you follow the advice of the other posters here (about doing just one thing), you might focus JUST on forex or move to something different (like cpa).

Also, You would definitely need to tie in better tracking though so that you would know:
out of the 300 hops you already created for forex, which Banner or ppc method was doing the best for you on each product. Which produced the most hops per visitor for example? when you get sales, which specific banner or ad on and what site/placement did they click to then come and buy?

Not sure if this will help, but that's all I got. Hope this helps.

I too am in the same boat paying for membership and haven't made a single cent. Looks like some good advice given here especially CPA. I haven't been able to get in front of the traffic though. Thinking about buying some traffic.

Now that you have some analytics on different hops etc you can focus on those products and their keywords. Also getting traffic via ppc is not so simple either and can be a huge money sink.

Making money with clickbank or any other affiliate program does not need to be hard but you do need to focus and learn.

Have you done all the seo work and tried starting to develop some search engine traffic too.

Forex and weight loss are highly competitive niches that aren't easy to convert if you don't know what you are doing. I would start with easy to convert offers like email submit offers. They won't pay you much per conversion, but you'll start learning.

just be wise in choosing most hot trending topics to use as your keywords then you can boost traffic on your affiliate page.

    thanks

Build a list and promote to THAT instead of trying to convert directly from ads. Much better results in the short term and especially the long term.

    Edit: On another note:

I dont think about it much, but I guess I just now reminded myself that I know alot more than just offline marketing. This is something I have done for almost 3 years now. Just dont consider myself a big wig at it.

    @ OP

The list is the best way to promote. Developing one will save you alot of energy and head banging, and lead to more long term sales. Sounds cliche but its a fundamental truth in IM.

      Hi John,

Thanks for advice, but how you build the list?. Via squeeze pages?
