Why are landing pages needed in CPA?? I'm a complete newbie, any advice is wecome! :)

I'm very new in the world of CPA & paid traffic...

I was just wondering why it's best to use a landing page first before leading into the offer?

I can possibly understand for CPA offers such as lead submits or zip code... since it will possibly pre-sell them and increase conversions (i hope i understand the concept correctly lol)...

But what if i wanted to promote a CB product... Is it best to direct link then?

Before i used to think that direct linking its considered best, since it decreases the amount of clicks it takes before they see the product... but i guess alot of paid traffic affiliates creates landing pages first?

Can someone please help me understand the significance, and the reasons behind it, etc?

Would definitely help me alot! , Thanks!

Often people say use landing pages to build a list. Or it could be used to make the offer look good enough for them to ignore the ugly looks on the actual converting offer that they are presented with.

But often it is used to build an email list so you can profit off them.

For me it's about control. You just paid for traffic for your visitor to go directly to someone else landing page, why not capture some of the traffic yourself to maximize your marketing $$$?

Landing page helps sells trust, have you ever direct linked to a dating site, just a page with a few images of men/women and a register box in the middle. This gains no trust or credibility to that offer and will have most your users just close the site,

The above guy is also correct about a email list, However i always use landing pages no mater what offer i am promoting. A landing page you are in complete control of, you can fine tune it the way you want to better increase your conversions, Using direct linking you have no control and you are just left there with hopes of a conversion.

Landing pages are ultra-important, as is the ability to split-test them and optimize them accordingly.

Other than building a list, they are used to presell the offer and bridge the gap between your traffic source and offer

The reason you use a landing page is because you want to presell the offer you are promoting and get them warned up ready to buy or sign up. So that when they get to the merchant page, they just pull out their CC and buy.

Isn't it (landing page) used to make people sign up where you earn a commission like a dollar or two per email submit? I'm also new to CPA and I still get confused. The last thread about landing page I read, we talked about earning per email submit that we get to it, not to sell anything at all.

It depends entirely upon what you are promoting and what traffic source you have.

Without going into the matter of using a lander to collect data and then feed into a path, using, or not using a landing page is simply a way to increase your profit.

Some traffic source and offer combinations simply need a landing page - and often these landers are tried and tested.

Display traffic with rebills (diet/bizop/teeth/skin etc) - farticles are tried and tested and still run.

Adult traffic with dating - the style of lander used here simply works.

In a nutshell - when landers are used, its to increase profit and ROI.

Confused about which angle/style to make?

Look at what every one else is running on your traffic source.

With your unique landing page, you can avoid 'landing page blindness', which is a problem that visitors see the same landing page many times and leave it very early.

Also, you can add more marketing techniques or presell before sending visitors to the offer page which could make a better CTR and conversion rate

All depends on your goals. They aren't a "necessary" component by themselves. You can do direct linking all day if you wish. They are, however, a necessary component if you wish to build a list or further optimize your campaigns.

Fellow warriors have already touched upon some of the pros for using them: avoiding 'page blindness', increasing profit, 'pitch it from the right angle'... etc.

But again, it all depends on your goals.
