I am thinking about creating a free report (like the ones I did when I was more active here) about some of the negatives to the CPA model, from a publisher/affiliate perspective. Clearly there are many positives but the negatives are generally not talked about as much.

Good idea or bad idea?...would it demotivate you (not what I want to do)

Hi Kenster, I am trying to wrap my head around what the value to the reader is...?

There are definitely alot of negatives...if you are pointing them out so that people can avoid them well heck yeah...go for it! It's free anyway and I think it would be great for people to see it from a different perspective!

Especially since most of the material is always talking about the good of CPA

It might be productive to read about the pros and cons of CPA as opposed to another model. Would it bum people out otherwise? Yeah, it might if it did not show an alternative.

I don't think the goal would be to show another alternative as every alternative would have plenty of negatives.

The goal would be to make people aware of the negatives so they understand the model better as they pursue it. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows and it's very helpful to know the bad along with the good, I just know a lot of newer marketers lose motivation at any sign up obstacles or hurdles so I was a little hesitant about doing it or not.

      Appreciate the feedback!

Hearing the negatives about something is always a good strategy in my opinion. I'd love to read it.

Be good to be candid... I'm not in to CPA anyway... nor do I want to be. But yeah... anything that shows you are willing to tell the truth certainly increases your trustworthiness in the eyes of subscribers! If you create a well crafted well though out argument, I'm sure it will do more good than harm!

After 2 years 3 months of research... I found alternative's for essential tools (like gotowebinar, camtasia, survey monkey and many more) that are just as good as the ones you've heard about, but cost a ton less! So good even Guru's like Mike Filsaime have used and recommended them. Click here to find out what most insiders know but don't tell...

I am thinking that those who have a pretty good understanding of CPA won't be much surprised or discouraged. And those who are just getting into CPA will be aware of the not so bright side of it and will know what to be prepared for.
So yeah, my opinion is go for it!

I think if you showed the negatives and alternatives to CPA marketing, then it might be good, but I think that just showing the negatives will not be too good

Any truth you shine down on us would be more than welcome. This type of information is more important than most imho.

If you provide positive solutions then sure.

    That would be cool.

Maybe phrase it as 'things to watch out for in your affiliate career.'

When you say "negatives" it is kind of turn off. Not because I want to close my eyes and pretent they don't exists, but because I don't really like articles written from a negative point of view.

I think if you would create a report which lists the pros and cons of CPA marketing, then it would be great.

However I wouldn't recommend listing just the negative features of CPA. But who knows? It worth a try

New into this and would definitely love to hear both sides, good and bad.

Edit to add that I find it more demotivating when something is presented as awesome and perfect (which is how things are promoted 99% of the time) and then you discover all the bad sides along the way than knowing the negatives right away and be ready for it, at least you know what those negatives are and how much you're willing to overcome them.

I have always believed in understanding all truths discovered. I tend to be high logic and I always want to know what a proven professional has to say.

I understand why some here say it may be a "turn off", but I don't think that way. Besides, professionals like Kenster are constantly refining themselves and their businesses, and when they decide to share, I listen.......

Do it Kenster, I'm ready to read!

I think it's a great idea to write about some of the pitfalls of CPA... and I'd title it something like, "CPA Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them". It'd be nice if it had a good problem/solution/alternative type of format too.

I wouldn't title it "Why I Hate CPA" though. Of course, this is just the *copywriter* in me at work. What? You didn't know?

Bring it ken! I've seen quite a few posts of new guys' aggressive campaigns, I've had the same experience myself. We all know there is potential to lose money if we're not careful so that's a given.

Your experienced info would be really appreciated. Plus if you can mention some positive guidelines then that's fair game.

note: CPA is very appealing to me since it seems to be a more straightforward business, almost anonymous, and simply a value-exchange between advertisers, networks and publishers. PLUS the game of market research, analysis, thinking outside the box and overcoming the competition excites me. It's very much like a strategy game come to life. (I believe strategy gamers can relate.)

I think most that have tested the CPA waters realize there are negatives out there. While most "hate it" others are still making some pretty decent money. I am wondering if most readers of the report would automatically assume you would include something positive as an offset?
