How Bad Do You Want To SUCCEED In CPA...

Hey Gang...

I started another thread about looking back and laughing at things we used to do when we first started in this business. This brought up memories of some of my early campaigns and the amount of elbow grease, sweat, and energy that went into them.

But the important part is that the people who are willing to roll their sleeves up and do the dirty work instead of looking for shortcuts and instant success are the ones who generally make it in this business, or any internet entrepreneurial venture. Are you willing to put in the hours and hours and hours needed?

Some of my first campaigns...

Let's take the hypothetical store "Warrior Depot" email submit offer

-I would literally go on Warrior Depot's (or whatever store the gift card was for) web site and search for the locations of every one of their stores (thousands). I would manually write them all down.
-I would make a list of every town a warrior depot was in
-I would make a list of every street name a warrior depot was in
-I would make a list of every zip code a warrior depot was in
-I would make a list of every state a warrior depot was in
-I would make a list of every full street address
-and so on

Then I would bid on the terms...

Warrior Depot + street name
Warrior Depot + zip
Warrior Depot + town
Warrior Depot + state
Warrior Depot + other variable

I would then do misspelling of the store name in conjunction with all the variables...

Warior Depot + street name
Warior Depot + zip
...etc

By the end of the day (it would take me literally hours and hours and hours

I had thousands and thousands of keywords for one campaign. The next day I would do the same thing for another store/gift card.

With the help of SpeedPPC and things like that, I was able to automate much of the process, but the initial data gathering was all manual and took many finger-cramping hours.

Are There Easier Ways To Do What I Did?

YES

Did I Not Go Through the Work Because There Were Easier Ways Out There?

NO

The point is that when you have that fire and passion to succeed, you are willing to make sacrifices, get blisters, sweat, stress, and claw your way to success.

It's slow, sometimes you go backwards, sometimes you feel like giving up, sometimes you don't know what the heck you are thinking, but that little fire in your belly urges you to go on and keep working harder than everybody else.

Do you have that fire?

Do you let frustration, lack of clarity, etc get in your way?

Food for thought!

Thanks for the post. Very inspiring.

I know that it's just a matter of time since this is how I always start when trying to master a skill. The same thing when I started playing chess, the same thing when I studied ethical hacking/programming, the same thing when I studied cold approach pick up. I now have a substantial amount of mastery on all three since I spent a lot of time studying and practicing back then. There's always a learning curve. Now I'm spending a lot of my time in this field. I am as patient as an elder himalayan monk -nothing will stop me.

Back in 2008 I started out with adult sites and I was thinking how cool would be to grab $30 per a simple signup. And than I quickly realized there's much more than just collecting the money. There is actual work to do. Okay, I used to be a college student and after that I had dayjobs, but I'm still here and I know one thing, for sure. I want to learn it, and master it. Because I have proven to myself in many ways that I can do it.

Well put together post Kenster, thanks for posting it.

All the hard work and effort definitely is worth it in the end.

It's hell in the beginning, but the impact you can make for
your life and others is incredible, if you just stick with it.

    Good Post Kenster!

Great share, one of the biggest things that I find most people tend to forget is this is a real business and to succeed in any business you must put work in, there are no shortcuts..

Great post! It made me laugh though...

I'm preparing to launch my first CPA campaign through PPC and reading about all the work you did despite being able to automate the tasks sounds a lot like what I'm doing right now!

I am a total newbie to PPC and CPA so I'm researching everything, making spreadsheets, taking notes! I laugh at myself sometimes at the crazy amount of data I've recorded to try and minimize the pain I'm expecting with this campaign. I know I'm going to get awful returns, but I have a testing plan in place and with enough elbow grease I'll figure it out! (I just hope I don't go broke first LOL!)

I did purchase a WSO to help get me started, and I know the more I do the more I'll figure out what data was useful and what wasn't so I won't spend as much time on it.

That's called wisdom, and the only way to earn that is by doing!

      Thanks for sharing yours!

well my "secret" is to keep on going. if you get tired in the way and stop promoting online then your earnings are going down.

I mean, I was showing the process that I used for many simple submit campaigns. Many were made winners and some I could not get to win. But back when I was doing this, the costs for specific key phrases like those were so cheap you never really lost a ton in the testing phase. But yeah, a good portion were winners, it just takes a long time to set up

For many CPA campaigns, this is a simple but very true statement

      Chase the process, not success.

      I agree!
