Experiences with Commission Junction?

Newbie here and have been going through the threads. I notice that not a lot of people recommend cj. They don't not recommend it though....It's the biggest advertising network. Why doesn't anyone ever mention cj? Thoughts and experiences please!

Most of my sales are through CJ, reason being they are the only ones whose company does affiliates sales through. Recently I had I believe $174 or $194 and within an hour of checking stats again, it droppd to $143. Tried to send an email through their contact function and all lead to 404 pages. Calling them resulted in dropped calls when transfered to support. There is no refund or charge back, much more importantly I know all the buyers all of them used their purchased product and said product can't be refunded after use. So there is something fishy there. Also my sales have dropped off the map since then but click through rate remains same, in fact, it's higher now. If you are going to sell a product which can be found on another network, go with the other network is my recommendation.

Thanks. That does sound shady... It's pretty much the only one I got accepted to so far so I don't really have a choice to use it. What are the experiences with the pay per lead programs where the user just enters their information without having to buy anything? I'm really interested in the dating program leads ie ashley madison, metrodate, singlesnet as well as, emusic, jamster, and consumer direct(denied applicaiton), rhapsody(probly won't get accepted),etc. Anyone have any expereinces with those?

      Hi,
From my experience CJ has awful customer service, but it CAN provide steady ROI.

The dating/matchmaking industry can be extremely profitable, when done right. They pay high bucks per signup. The problem is that normally it's hard to get ppl to sign up, because:
      1. there are so many offers, and
      2. it has a pretty shady image.
That's why I recommend using blackhat methods with them. It doesn't have to be my product, as there are several blackhat methods that won't cost you a dime. It's just that going whitehat with dating won't get you far.

(With other fields whitehat methods can be profitable, in CJ or elsewhere, but my experience with dating always suggests some measure of blackhat. never succeeded pulling it otherwise)

I'm a noob at internet marketing and I'm only using CJ at the moment although I am a member of 4 CPA networks. The main reason I'm only using CJ is that the other networks I am a member of (fairly popular ones that I won't name) deal mostly in shady, scammy offers. CJ offers a much better variety of QUALITY well-known companies. It might be harder and take longer to start developing cash flow through CJ, but at least I know I'm not scamming anyone. a couple well-aimed google searches will tell you a lot about the offers you're promoting. I could make tons of money much faster pushing those diet supplement "Free" trials...but I can't do it.

CJ is pretty annoying .. merchants sometimes decide not to pay ... lousy support..

However, like Clickbank .. they don't have a real competition and have been around for ever. A lot of established businesses accept affiliates only through CJ.

CJ puts their priorities in this order:

        1.) CJ
        2.) Their advertisers
        3.) Osama Bin Ladin
        4.) The Devil
        5.) You

They are so big that they just do not care about affiliates anymore. I've had a bad experience with them in the past over them not being able to figure out how to send a wire to Canada. Instead of retrying, they kept pushing the wire back to the next month. Very annoying. I haven't dealt with them since and that was 4 years ago.

I am a member of PPC Classroom, and in one webinar the coach that seemed to be pretty smart in all that PPC, CPA game said that CJ is not as good as other networks, and it is not easy to earn some big money there. So I decided to not join them. I want to be where big money potential is.

What are the good ones in India?

From India to me it seems that most CPA/affiliate sites do not even accept an application while CJ does. That in itself is rather weird to me - that the competition does not accept applications.

I keep reading on about fraud sales from affiliates - does that mean a sale to oneself for getting a discount, or a black hat technique, or what?

It would be hard for me to give an answer as absolutely ZERO of all the ads served up by Microsoft Ad Center have EVER been clicked.
                We're talking oh for 1691!!!
My CTR is up around 3% overall, so it's not like I can't write a half decent ad.
I was hopeful, because it seems they have actual products that don't live in the cesspool that is the CPA.
Evidently, more people are interested in the cesspool.

@ PPC-Coach hahah. That's AWESOME! And exactly right.

They are very big... way to big to be interested / vested in any individual affiliate. I like to think of them as the Google of Affiliate Networks... An expensive pain in the ass that is best avoided until you really know what you're doing

You will basically get absolutely no support until you are at least a 3 bar... and even then it ain't that much. If you do end up getting successful with CJ you will have to put up with Advertisers contacting you begging and pleading as opposed to just dealing with just one AM.

Most of their offers seem to work best when you have an existing traffic source. Except for netficks / blockbuster / gamefly there really are no big impulse offers, so you are relying on a customer coming back to the offer and still having your cookie.

There are many people that swear by them... but not me.

CJ was much better in the past. In fact they are the ones who got me hooked on CPA, but lately Hydra and MaxBounty are MUCH better. Steer clear of the CJ demon.

my sales are too minimal to have the money jump up and down, but i noticed that the bigger players are found there as compared to other sites.

I sell computer system in life and noticed that the bigger vendors such as norton are in there as compared to other cpa website.

If you are selling branded products, probably cj is a better choice

I've made good money with CJ, but I will be completely honest. I have flat out busted them several times because of their lousy reporting architecture. You have to watch them like a HAWK. Antiquated tracking, poor APIs, on and on.

I have good experiences with CJ & in fact 40% of my total earnings come from it. Since joining them way back in 2003 I have kept a close eye on each merchants bidding policies and I guess that's why have done resonably well.

I recommend Commission Junction if you have a decent size site and have a good amount of US traffic. Also your site should be a niche to make more money.

If you are not from the US, some merchants in CJ will reject your application straight away without checking if your website have US traffic.
