Hey Guys,

I was wondering what your thoughts were about CPA networks and Affiliate Managers, They know exactly who brings in the big bucks and how they do it, if i bring in major conversions whats stopping them from doing what i do.

The only way i can hide my traffic source is to add a Squeeze page before the offers landing page so the CPA networks cant find out where my traffic is coming from am i paranoid????.

whats your thoughts?

  • Have you made any money in CPA yet?

    • No! But I think I have made millions but they are just shaving me all these months :-)
  • If you run with a reputable network you won't have any problems.
  • You can always cloak your traffic, and even they know you what your landing page looks like they don't know what your traffic source is.

Also depending on your tracking setup, they won't know what keywords/URLs or Ads are converting for you.

Stealing a campaign is esier said than done.

    • Yep. What she said.

Cloaking or Funneling traffic through a tracking server can help protect you. Even if a network could see anything; they wouldn't be able to see your original traffic source or keywords.

  • It could happen and does occasionally happen, but really what other options do you have? You could try going direct but that will probably give you even more issues.

    • LOL advertisers are publishers themselves
    • Well put. Every business has some risk of getting ripped off.

But hey they can't steal your brain. So keep learning and innovating.

Always aim to go above and beyond the bare minimum.
  • When cloaking or just sending straight traffic what you also have to worry about are CPA Networks who will shut down your account without warning or reason. Some Networks will act as if they're on your side and then bang! your account is closed/suspended and they will refuse to talk with you to figure out what went wrong. They choose the automatically guilty approach that many companies are using these days, shut you down and keep your earned revenue regardless of the time and money spent on developing your campaigns, so be careful of the type of traffic you send to CPA networks, including the "reputable ones" as well. When in doubt, check with the network first, you might believe that you understood the terms of each campaign but there can be confusion on both sides so get everything in writing. Better safe than sorry.

  • Use redirect services for hiding your referring site so they could not know how you get people to do CPA offers for you.

  • Also - remember it can happen on the other side - traffic source run things internally too.

Only way you can beat this - stay one step ahead of the game and optimize your shit like a crazy man - keep on moving forward.

Blank you referrers too - always.

    • Ok guys thanks for your help until now i appreciate the comments.

Lets say i am running an offer and i use the CPA networks landing page how can i hide my traffic source. I have traffic sources who will advertise the landing page. which means the cpa network can see which source is advertising my landing page. How can i hide that?
  • I think the world is ending too.

And aliens might abduct me in my sleep tonight.

There are things in this world that you cannot control. You can "what if" yourself to death.

In business, you simply have to take risks to get any kind of reward.

The theft of an idea is one of them that we all deal with. It's part of the program but you should be dealing with people you trust who won't steal your stuff. Do a test with your affiliate manager, ask to see a profitable landing page. If they show you one, ask where they got it. If they say it's from a profitable affiliate, say "thank you, I won't be running traffic with you ever. I do not want my stuff shown to others and you just showed me someone elses work."

  • If this concerns you, you are working with the wrong people.
  • Narko, you have much more to worry about from fellow affiliates than from networks. There are many competitive intelligence tools available on the market right now being used by affiliates to figure out what is working and replicate it.
  • Once you start doing bigger numbers you can always source the offers outside of the networks and work private deals. Until then, it's one of the many business risks you'll need to take
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I should clarify...there ARE things you can do to prevent the network from knowing more about your campaign but the more you do, the more they worry. The less they know, the more risk they have, so it's a balancing act
  • How to prevent it from traffic sources. As campaign manager knows everything
