Just Starting POF Confused About The Number Of Campaigns I Should Be Running

Hi Guys,

I have been running POF ads for about a 2 weeks now with 4 campaigns running, I`m alittle confused as to what i`m supposed to be doing while the campaigns are collecting Data ?

Do i keep building more and more campaigns ? I read that some of you guys test 50 + ads a day so i guess your building a new campaign every day so should i be doing the same ?

Thanks James

Keep building and duplicate the successful ones to own the whole page of ads.

Delete bad performing campaigns, try new campaigns. Always be trying new things on new media with new banners and new offers until you find the sweet spot.

    Hey Jim,

Awesome start to building out your POF Campaigns. You're already one step ahead of many IMers

There are several parts of a campaign you can focus on.

    1. Ad Level
    2. Landing Page Level
    3. Offer Level.

When you collect data, you collect data on all three levels.

From what I gather from your OP, the Ad Level is what you want to focus on first - Improve your CTR's. When you're collecting data - you're filtering out the data points (demographics, angles, etc) that don't click through.

Limit impressions to 1,500< or less. If the ad doesn't generate a click, I would suggest pausing the ad and applying a new angle or new template.

Things you can do to optimize ads:

    1. Image
    2. Copy

Once you've got the perfect combo of both Image and Ad - you can move ahead to CTA's (If your doing dating on POF) or Color.

Testing 50+ ads seems like a great idea, but its also a great way to burn through cash - I wouldn't suggest doing this because now you're monitoring 50+ ads that need a minimum of 1,500 impressions before you can justify their existence.

If you have any more questions, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Hey thanks for your reply, Ok well i`m using the same BBW offer on 4 campaigns now and each campagin has 25 images in it and all with the exact same targeting except the `age` with the age i`ve got 2 campaigns with 29-34 and 2 with 35-40

So i`m watching 100 ads, but i`m just sat here waiting of the data to come though, i dont know what to do now ? Just sit here waiting or keep building new campaigns but like you say it sure is burning though the cash but to be honest thats what i thought was supposed to happen i think i`ve gone though $75 in the week or so i`ve been doing this but theres $40 in my CPA account from leads so its not all bad.

So i just wanted to know if i`m doing this correct, I`ve read alot of stuff about how to get started but the info is a little thin on the ground about this stage

So do i keep building campagins day after day and burning trhough cash but learning and gathering data `or` do i stop and just watch the 4 campaign i`ve got running ?

        Hey Jim,

        Okay, so just to clarify:

You have 2 Campaigns with 2 Age Groups.

You have 100 ads that you are monitoring, split 25 between 4 groups.

The first thing you should do is.

        1) Review all 100 Ads. If impressions are >1,500 and no click = pause. If impressions are >1,500 and CTR is <0.015% cancel ad.

        2) If you have not received over 100+ clicks to your offer / landing page, you do not have (imo) enough data to qualify if your landing / offer works.

        3) If 2 is the case, then rework ads and insure that your ads get to a 0.04%+ or better CTR.

        4) Once 3 is completed, you can shift some attention and resources to your landing page / offer.

These steps could go on forever, but I wanted to provide you with some actionable advice that you could take now. If my steps aren't relevant to your scenario its because I misunderstood where you are in your campaign in terms of "Campaign Life Cycle"

Edit: Jim, I also assume that you've set up tracking on your campaign. You do not necessarily build "campaign after campaign" but you build campaigns to move towards providing profitable ROI. Once your campaigns have met the positive mark you have a couple choice:

        1) Continue "Optimizing" the campaign on all 3 levels
        2) Be content, and let the campaign run until it dies
        3) Build new "campaign" angles and make them profitable.

Yes you`ve understood my question perfectly and thanks so much for your advice, I understand your steps completely, Can i ask you after a good amount of `optimizing` how many ads do you have in the campagin running ?

And the only question i`m still kinda missing out on is ... Right now my 4 campaigns are just collecting the data and i`m optimizing on the numbers you outlined above but .. should i keep building new campagins while i`m waiting or not i`m not quite sure if its a good idea or not ?

          Thanks so much guys

            Hi Jim,

I have found that there isn't a set number, but in each campaign there should be at least 4 good ads running. This accomplishes a couple things

            1. It limits banner blindness
            2. It extends the longevity of your campaign

On your second note. You can continue building Campaigns Out - but make sure 1) You can financially plan for it 2) You make sure each campaign has a unique Angle (not just different ses depth etc..) Needs to be UNIQUE not a "Variation".

When I said, this list could go on forever, it especially goes on forever when you use POF.

POF is and has been known in many niches to be GREAT for a couple weeks, then ultimately die. Some campaigns can end 1 month, or 3 months later, but in POF the life span "tends" to be shorter than say Facebook.

I do not want to stop you or tell you that POF is not a place for great campaigns, but simply know going forward there is and will always be work ahead of you.

You clearly have the will to move forward, so I am sure that you will make money on POF!

            Hope this helps Jim!

Its a big help really nice of you too, I see you dont have many posts on the WF are you new here ?

I fully understand what to expect from POF, internet marketing in general and the money side of testing on POF i have been online for 5 years working away on SEO and did really well even made enough to go live in Thailand for a year with my laptop aha the Laptop lifestyle.

But 1 google update after another has slowly killed my ambition to work online in SEO i still make all my money from adsense and afew affiliate sites and thats actually what i live on day to day but i am going to set up other areas of income and POF is what i`m going to try to get to the point where i cover basic household bills by the end of the year !

So quickly i dont want to bother you anymore but your happy with only 4 ads running in a campaign? so you start with 25 ads and keep testing and cutting ads until you get a solid 4 ads working? Do you keep toping the campagin up with fresh ads ?

And last one.. you said.. "You make sure each campaign has a unique Angle"is 34-39 Y/O female BBWs a `unique enough Angle` ??

Am I new on the Forum?

In terms of my membership join date, I guess I am. Am I a stranger to internet marketing? No, I've been a hobbyist in this space for the last 2-3 years. It's been a side business of mine that has steadily grown.

Am I happy with 4 Ads?

No, not necessarily. 4 Ads is simply a number I gave to you as this could be 8 ads. If your CTR is above >0.04%, I find no harm in running the ads unless I have 4 running at 1%+ or something ridiculous like that. (There has to be a considerable difference).

Ultimately these 4 are the baseline of your traffic, you'll always want to optimize to beat them out. (1500 impression test)

                Your "unique" angle.

IMO, no that's not a unique angle- at least not what I would categorize as unique. Unique is like..

                "BBW - F - USA - AGE - Likes Smoking - Doesn't Have a Car"

                - We have SMOKING hot guys who want to take you out for a DRIVE"

To summarize, demographics are more variety - "PSYCHOGRAPHICS" are more unique.

Jim, feel free to PM me anytime as your case progresses. I'm glad I could be of help.

I test a lot of ads, but not as many of campaigns at one time.

I like to hammer on 1 until it is successful or completely failed.

But there will clearly be dead time while letting the traffic flow in, at these moments, I'll start new campaigns.

    4 is not enough IMO..
I normally start with 5 different images, 5 different headings and 5 different ad texts.. this turns about to be 125 different variations, you can start with less, but the point is you need to split test many different variations
